Okay, brief bit of background to get started on:I’m currently playing a Changeling Rogue/Bard with max ranks in Perform (Acting). His background is essentially that he is an actor that, after the party did a phantom of the opera esque adventure (to introduce the new character), joined up as part of the group.

His outlook on life and being a changeling is that each face he wears is it’s own role, and takes the appropriate role for what he’s doing. Elven (Valenar) for combat with his weapon finessed TWF shortswords, human for general activities, female for when lounging around and being luxurious, that sort of thing. He doesn’t keep the fact that he’s a changeling secret from his friends, but tends not to let on what he is on the first date, as it were.That said, I was thumbing through various books just for something to do, and came across the Master of Masks PrC from Complete Scoundral.

Fits my character perfectly, prereqs are things I already planned on taking, es muy bueno. DM is looking over it, but likes the sound of it, so I want to adapt it to Eberron. Things like where these guys are aren’t really an issue, those we’ll work out on our own. What I’m asking for help on is modifying the various masks to be more Eberron-esque, and possible making some new ones based purely on Eberron flavor.

Below is a list of the various masks the PrC can get (can’t have all of them, and I’ll avoid putting in any specific details to avoid copyright issues, just enough description for you to know roughly what they do if you don’t have the book): Angel: Gives you things like Feather Fall and Fly. Archmage: Grants the ability to cast a number of arcane spells. Assassin: Gives sneak attack and bonuses to Hide and Move Silently Demon: Grants ability to summon chaotic evil beings similar to Summon Monster spells. Dragon: Grants a breath weapon. Faceless: Grants Non-Detection on the wearer. Gladiator: Grants weapon proficiencies and damage bonuses. High Priest: Grants the ability to cast a number of divine spells. Jester: Grants bonuses to Balance, Perform, Sleight of Hand, and Tumble checks. Lich: Grants ability to cast a number of Necromancy spells and gives cold resistance. Lord: Grants ability to cast a number of buffing spells, and grants bonuses to Diplomacy and Gather Information checks. Savage: Grants the wearer a pair of claw attacks.These are the flavor changes that jump out at me:

Faceless -> Changeling Mask
Gladiator -> Warforged Mask
Lord -> Galifar Mask
Savage -> Shifter Mask

Some masks can be left alone, as they are generic enough to fit in already. Not much need to change the Assassin mask, or the Angel mask, for example. Others I’m wishy washy on. The Demon mask could become a Cultist mask, a Rakasha mask, or just left as a generic demon. The Lich mask sounds like something that would immediantly associate with the Blood of Vol, but what would that look like, or just leave it the way it is?

And what other masks could be added to give an Eberron feel to the class?

A Kalashtar mask that grants psionic powers the same way the archmage and high priest masks grant arcane and divine spells, since we already have masks for the other three new races?

A Druid/Gatekeeper mask that uses Summon Nature’s Ally the same way the Demon mask summons demons? Or change the Demon mask into a Druid mask?

A Warforged mask that instead grants immunities or armor bonuses, instead of weapon proficiencies and damage bonus, and either leave the Gladiator mask as a gladiator, or change it to something else (a Valenar mask maybe)?

I like the idea of a Druid/Gatekeeper mask that uses Summon Nature's Ally. A possible look would be the traditional Greenman 'face in oak-leaves' look (a google search for greenman images pulls up several if you don't know what I'm referring to).

Definitely the Kalashtar mask.

Possibly a Deathless mask, but I'm not familiar enough with them to offer suggestions.

Think I'd leave Gladiator/Valenar as is and go with a Warforged mask that gave light fortification or armor bonuses.

A Zora mask that lets you swim underwater-

Oh wait sorry. Wrong game.

OK let's see what I can think up.

How about a mask associated with Quori that gives you a bonus to sense motive and intimidate checks? Since Quori are about getting inside people's heads and scaring them.

That's a nifty sounding class. I'm going to have to look into it.

I was thinking for Jester, maybe a Gnome or perhaps a Thurani-esq Elf with face paint. (Is it Thurani that has the Carnival of Shadows? Or is that Phiarlan? Anyway... that one.)

Also a Goblin face really should be worked into there... not sure what the bonus might be... maybe some Bardic Music abilities ala dirgesingers?

Perhaps masks that relate to the various houses each with the house sign for a mask design such as:
Cannith mask: bonus to UMD and some spells maybe
Denieth mask: for the gladiator mask maybe
jurasko (sp?) mask: instead of the high priest maybe

Those sorts of things

I had considered that, but I think it would be smarter, in game, not to have masks and the like associated with the major powers like the dragonmarked houses.

I did briefly consider dragonmark masks, but that would probably not go over too well.

Ok then how about masks associated with the different continents in some way perhaps one that grants a size increase (I'm thinking 2 or more size catagories) for Xen., an Ice/snow mask for the one up north, a mask of many faces or something for Kor., the dragon mask for Arg., and a psionic mask for Sar., and lastly one for the water in between of water breathing or something.

I'd even think that change the Shifter mask so it lets you use certain Shifting abilities, maybe not the stat bonuses.
