| Zodiacphoenix10-22-07, 05:29 PM | I don't know if anyone has done this yet, but has anyone tried adapting the Dragon Rider of Draconomicon into the Eragon Dragon Riders of the book, not the movie... I would be really interested in seeing any classes like this, and I'll be trying to make one, but the problem is that the book triology is a bit incomplete so, thus far, it will be in a beta type state. If you can find them, please post links here in this thread. Thanks. |
| DragoonDarkfire10-22-07, 06:13 PM | OK two points I'd like to make. 1. I hated Eragon. HATED HATED HATED. The books and movie (never saw movie but I heard it's crap and I don't have any reason to disagree) they were poorly written and chock full of cliché's and pointless filler. 2. This is not even related with Eberron. |
| Zodiacphoenix10-22-07, 07:38 PM | Alright, I think I can understand your feelings, as they are your own and not mine...but I was asking for help, not for an opinion. And, as I recall, all D&D books, like Draconomicon, could be adapted for Ebberron. A follower of the Draconic Prophesy might be awarded a dragon steed, like the Dragon Riders in the Eragon books. I was simply asking for help. If you don't want to give it, just ignore this post. Thank you. |
| Revvecor10-22-07, 07:44 PM | I believe DragoonDarkfire was merely stating the dragons in Eberron would never willingly allow a lesser race to mount them let alone control them as steeds. I would have agree. The only way I could see your idea working is if you were to use drakes instead of dragons. |

If you're going to ask this then please do ask "How could you expand the Dragon Rider prestige class from Draconomicon into Eberron?" as I don't see the need to make an allusion to Eragon... in fact you could get the same result with any media about Dragon Riders. Including the original Dragon Riders of Pern I saw no reason to talk about Eragon in your question. And as Revvcore said. Dragon's aren't about to let humanoids ride them in Eberron... heck I laugh at the idiot who sees a dragon and says "HEY LET SEE IF WE CAN RIDE IT!?" and then gets charred to a crisp. You'd be lucky to persuade a dragon to help your cause and not have it blow up the whole city where it is. Let alone allowing you to ride it like some common horse. |
| TiwazTyrsfist10-22-07, 11:16 PM | So, you may have better luck with adapting the Draconomicon PrC for Eragon in the Prestige Class forum. As stated above, the whole concept of people riding Dragons is out of flavor for Eberron. Asking this particular question in this particular forum is, sadly for you, basicly flame-baiting. I know you didn't intend it that way, but really not gonna happen here. Try the PrC board. |
| Amaril10-23-07, 12:18 AM | The closest you'll get to a dragonrider in Eberron is a wyvern rider in Io'lokar. They actually have levels in that PrC. |
| Amaril10-23-07, 12:27 AM | oh wait, Thrane had wyvern riders, too. |
| Edymnion10-23-07, 12:31 PM | *opens mouth*I was asking for help, not for an opinion.*closes mouth and leaves* |
| larry_the_titan10-23-07, 01:13 PM | I can't help myself but every time I here Dragon Rider I think 'Dragon Riders are like putting a man with a baseball bat on top of a tank.' I remember some one saying something like that in another thread. Now the idea just doesn't sound cool anymore. |

When your companion can fight better than you it's usually a good idea to stop and say "I don't think this is working out." Although Wyvern riding could be a good idea for a mid level character. |
| Amaril10-23-07, 03:25 PM | Don't forget about the drakkensteed in Dragon Magic, too. |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph10-23-07, 04:24 PM | This isn't about Eberron. Take it elsewhere. |
| ORC_Tuhteth10-23-07, 04:37 PM | This is really off-topic for the Eberron boards (i.e. it's not specific to Eberron). Feel free to open a new thread over in the Prestige Classes forum, however. (I would just move this thread, but it seems a bit bogged down in discussions about whether it is or is not on topic; as such, I felt it could use a fresh start.) |
