Euryale

Before you stands a Medusan woman...or is it? Her appearance is not like that of the normal for her race. Her normal locks of serpents have been enhanced to a greater strength and power while her horrid gaze has also been modified. As with the great mythological tales of Gorgons, a Euryale has hands made of brass and, can thus, become very efficient in melee combat. A 10 ECL Medusa can qualify for this PrC before taking any class levels and it is only available to said race. Inspired by the Medusas of Droaam (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20060905a).

Class Features
A Euryale learn how to fight in close combat with their snake as well as their hands. They also have a number of Invocations to aid them in battlefield control. A Euryale's caster level for her spell-like abilities is equal to twice her class level.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Euryale gains proficency the feat Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Medusa Snake Chains) as a bonus feat. She does not gain any other proficiencies with weapons. She also gains proficiency with all types of light armor and all shields (except tower shields).

Invocations: Invocations are Spell-Like Abilities. Unlike most Spell-Like Abilities, Invocations have Somatic (and in a few cases, Verbal) components. Arcane Spell failure of Medium (and heavier) Armor applies as normal. Invocations are activated as a Standard Action and can be used an unlimited number of times per day. At 1st level, only Least Invocations may be learned. At 4th level, you can learn any Invocation from the Least or Lesser list. At 8th level, you can learn a Least, Lesser or Greater invocation. Whenever a new list of Invocations becomes available, you may change one Invocation that was learned at an earlier level. Invocations are chosen from the Warlock list.

Forked Tongue (Ex): You, as well as your serpentine allies above, have a very accute sense of perception. As such, you gain the scent ability so long as your serpents are not in a hibernative state (as the Torpid Serpents ability described below).

Brass Fists (Ex): As legend told, the three Gorgon sisters all had fists made of brass. The Euryale gains the Improved Unarmed Strike feat with a few exceptions. Any melee or ranged weapon wielded by the Euryale takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls due to the strange inflexible nature of her new hands. Furthermore, she deals unarmed damage as a monk equal to her class level. The Euryale may enchant her hands much like a spiked gauntlet and still be able to use them in unarmed combat like a monk. Essentially, this allows the Euryale's primary attack to be unarmed strikes, yet, she can enchant them with magic for greater effect. You can resume or supress this ability at will as a swift action. When this ability is supressed, so is the magic that eminates from the brass. For example, if a Medusa enters melee and begins using her Brass Fists (which she has paid 8000 for a +2 enhancement bonus) she gains said bonus on her unarmed strikes. However, once the battle has subsumed, she can deactivate her Brass Fists ability and, thus, negate the magical aura and effect until she resumes the ability again. Once the ability is resumed, all original effects are restored. The brass fists are treated as manufactured and natural weapons for the purpose of determining magical effects. Levels in the Monk class do not affect the unarmed damage. If you take levels in Monk, you simply deal whichever unarmed damage is higher.

This class ability also gives you a very strong connection with your most primal force. When this ability is activated, you gain a +6 circumstance bonus on all Craft (Stonemasonry) and Profession (Architect) checks. The Medusas of Droaam are expert architects and stonemasons.

Snakes (Ex): The Euryale's snakes grow more powerful and, as such, do the indicated damage instead of that listed in the MM entry for Medusas.

Medusa's Kiss (Sp): You gain the ability, at 4th level, to use Medusa's Kiss (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20060905a) as a spell-like ability three times per day. Your caster level for this effect is equal to your effective character level. Effective character level is all hit dice (from class or racial levels) as well as any level adjustment.

Torpid Serpents (Ex): As a move action, the Medusa may force her serpents into a state of hibernation. While in this form, she gains a +4 bonus to Disguise checks to act as a female humanoid from another race. Also, she does not have to make Concentration checks to keep her snakes quiet (usually DC 10). Because the Medusa has focused her gaze strictly to her own eyes, she gains a +2 bonus to the DC of her gaze. Many Euryale's use this ability before entering humanoid settlements in order to blend in more effectively.

Serpent's Gaze (Su): At 7th level, you gain the ability to use Detect Magic and Read Magic at will. You also gain a +4 bonus on Spot checks due to the extra eyes atop your head. This ability does not work while the Torpid Serpents ability is in effect.

Milk Venom (Ex): A Euryale may extract the venom from her serpents once per day creating enough venom for one dose. DC for the venom is the same as is for the medusa including any augmented feats such as Ability Focus or Virulent Poison. Euryales are skilled in the use of poison and never risk accidentally poisoning themselves when applying poisons. The poison created by Milk Venom is an injury only poison and can be applied to the Brass Hands ability. If the brass hands are subsumed with poison still applied to them, the poison is absorbed by the Medusa and rendered useless as if used.

Lucid Visions (Su): When a Euryale reaches 8th level, her serpentine hair becomes more magical. As such, she gains blindsight 5' and immunity to flanking. This ability requires concentration that may be maintained as a swift action each round (DC 10). While in this state, the Euryale's serpents rise up as if ready to strike and work as the eyes of the Medusa. The Euryale's gaze functions through her serpents as well as her own eyes. If both the serpents and the Medusa focus on a specific target, her active gaze extends to 60 feet. At 10th level, her blindsight increases to 15 feet.

Rapid Snakes (Ex): When making a full attack action with your snakes, you use your BAB to modify your snake attacks. Effectively, you gain itterative attacks with your serpentine hair. If you also have Snake Chains in your hair, you fight as if using two one-handed weapons. When using this ability, you still may only apply poison to one attack per round made with your snakes.

Venomous Gaze (Su): At 10th level, you can entomb the soul of your victims in stone. As a full round action, you can make a single snake attack followed by a Petrifying Gaze. If your snake attack is successful, your opponent receives a -6 penalty to his save against your Petrifying Attack. A creature turned to stone in this manner can only be restored to life by either True Resurrection and Stone to Flesh (or Medusa's Kiss) or a Miracle or Wish spell. A creature is not immune to this ability unless they are immune to petrification and poison.

I based this as an extension of Monstrous Humanoid HD (BAB and Saves) while adding some new spellcaster-like invocations and some melee enhancements to the class. Also, I think the disguise and profession/craft bonuses grant a more "human" aspect to the character and would give her plenty of reason to venture into cities and the like.

So, P.E.A.C.H! I'm open to advice!

"A Euryale's caster l evel for her spell-like abilities is equal to her class level."

This seems kind of low or did you mean character level?

On the chart you have Virulent Venom listed as the 10th level ability gained and under the descriptions, you have Venomous Gaze listed. Just for you editing process.

Also with Brass Fist, if a Medusa took levels in Monk, would the two stack for determining damage?

"Venomous Gaze (Su): When you finally achieve 10th level, your snakes become as potent as your gaze. You now have the option to petrify your enemies with your poison from your snakes rather than deal ability damage. Effectively, your poison DC stays the same but it changes from (1d6 Str, 2d6 Str) to (Petrification, 1d6 Str) Once turned to stone in this manner, the Euryale then glares into the eyes of her new victim forcing it to make a second saving through, albeit with a -6 penalty versus her gaze."

This isn't entirely clear to me in the wording how this works.

As for Venomous Gaze, I tried to make it make more sense. Effectively, you "double petrify" someone for better effect. You attack with your snakes and use your altered poison to petrify them. In the same round (thus the full-round action) you make your gaze attack with their penalty to the save. If they fail both, they are petrified and can only be restored through the listed means.

I changed the class level bit...and, I made a couple changes to the Brass Fists.

Thanks for the pointers!!!
