I'm used to forgotten realms (as you may know from my other post). I don't know what sort of classes there are in Eberon, so I was hoping you all could help me out. What are the base classes and any other useful newbie info.

The only new base class is the artificer. That class pretty much defines the entire setting. Then there are a few prestige classes. Otherwise everything from the PHB is there and whatever other classes your DM allows.

The artificer specialises in creating temporary and permanent magical items.

Instead of casting spells like a wizard or cleric, an artificer has a class list of "infusions" which must be cast upon an object (or a creature that counts as an object, such as a construct - including warforged). This is the "temporary magic items" bit - instead of casting the bull's strength spell on a companion, the artificer uses a bull's strength infusion on a belt which their companion can wear.

The artificer also gets several class features which allow them to make permanent magic items faster, cheaper, and more easily than other casters, including bypassing the spell prerequisites with a Use Magic Device check and that sort of thing.

As Shady said, the artificer kind of defines the low-powered-but-widespread-magic feel of Eberron (along with the magewright, which is an NPC class similar to the artificer in the way that an adept is similar to a cleric). They're responsible for the vast majority of magical constructions in the world - airships, the lightning rail system, the warforged race, and so on.

Additionally, while they are not new or exclusive to Eberron, there is a lot of support for psionic classes, both flavour and rules wise. While it's possible to stay clear of psionics for those who do not like them, the setting offers a good place for them.

If you're coming from FR, one difference based on classes you should be aware of regards clerics and gods. Unlike FR religion is much more a matter of faith than actual evidence; you don't risk ending up as part of a wall in the otherworld if you're not a believer. Clerics can venerate causes and ideas (Blood of Vol), mystical forces (Silver Flame), pantheons (Sovereign Host, Dark Six), as well as gods (Onatar, the Keeper, Dol Arrah) and actual, non-divine beings (radiant idols, dragons). They need not be within one step of their god's alignment, as long as they keep their own faith intact.
