| Warforged Goblin05-21-07, 11:37 AM | Ok, I know that somewhere, be it here on the boards or as a Dragonshard, there was information about using the Tome of Battle in Eberron. I intend on having a 3rd level hobgoblin warblade in an upcoming campaign and I was wondering what disciplines the Dhakanni focused on. Any help and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
| Rechan05-21-07, 12:29 PM | THere are only 4 disciplines open to Warblade. Ironheart, Stone Dragon, Tiger Claw, White Raven. I would say hands down that White Raven is likely what HObgoblins would go for. It's all about leading and being couragous. Stone Dragon or Iron Heart are likely secondary, but no less likely. It just depends on your style of character. If your DM allowed you to select a different set of Disciplines, I would say that Diamond Mind or Setting Sun would be more in line with Dhakaani. But then, I like those disciplines. Alternatively, there is an Order of goblins known as the Silent Knives - they are attributed to the Ninja class. I imagine that if your hobgoblin was from there, and your DM let you choose a different discipline for a Warblade, that the Shadow Hand would be acceptable. |

| MDosantos05-21-07, 03:04 PM | IIRC Iron Heart was created by Hobgoblins so I would say they focused on it ^^ |
| Nived05-24-07, 03:49 AM | Indeed according to the fluff of Tome of Battle one of the oldest (at least the first that Reshar learned) is the Iron Heart Discipline that he learned from Hobgoblins in the monestary Ur-Thaldaar. Looks an awful lot like Eberron's Goblin's naming conventions doesn't it? It would make an awful lot of sense for the Iron Heart discipline to keep its strong ties to the goblinoid empires. Besides the Kamate, the Iron Heart's Legacy Sword has a wonderful goblin rich history. |
| Warforged Goblin05-24-07, 08:24 AM | Agreed. That's what I decided on :D |

Umm...I just bought Tome of Battle, and unless it's been errataed, Diamond mind is one of the 5 disciplines available to a warblade... I thought I'd mention it since I'm planning a game of Ebberron, and I decided that if a player wants to learn to be a Warblade, he either has to A) be a goblinoid from Darguun or B) seek out training from a Warblade in Darguun who is willing to teach the character the basics. I had this funny thought of a Diamond Mind focused Bugbear... |

You don't think the Tairnadal would have developed Martial Adept traditions in their 40,000+ year history, as well? :) The ancient battles of Elf vs. Hobgoblin adepts would have been something to see... |
| gensuke62605-25-07, 11:33 PM | *blinks then ponders the point for a few moments* Me thinks you've stuck gold my friend. I hadn't considered that...though now I'm going to have to do much more research. Basically I had wanted my players to have to work for the right to take levels in the Tome of Battle Classes. Though becoming friends with those particular Elves may be just as fun (for me) as having them do into some Dhakanni Ruins to beg for training... Though part of me wants to let them be the premiere practitioners of the Desert Wind style...lots of swordsages...hmm...Epic Battles of Tairnadal Revenant Blades and Swordsages against Dhakhanni Warblades and fighters of all flavors. |
| TheAnthroDM05-26-07, 01:04 AM | Hmmm Hobgoblin... Out of the Warblade disciplines I'd say they should be laid out in this fashion for goblinioids: Ironheart: Hobgoblin Stone Dragon: Hobgoblin Tiger Claw: Bugbear, Goblin White Raven: Maybe Hobgoblin? I haven't seen any official information on ToB classes in Eberron though. |
