This topic may well have been discussed before, but my searches of the boards have been fruitless so far.

Has anything official (or unofficial!) been written on how hellbred fit into Eberron? I'm about to embark on my running first campaign and I think one of my players would like to play a hellbred.

thanks in advance.

Yes this has been discussed before, and it's a tough fit.

One idea that was discussed in a different thread, and that I'm personally a huge fan of, is to have the Hellbred represent a particularly powerful soul who, either through help from friends from life, or by himself, managed to free himself from Dolurrh or the Keeper's lair. As he stepped back into Eberron, a new body formed around his spirit, and he breathed a fresh breath of Eberronian air into his newly formed lungs.

Basically, you would keep the fluff of damnation and reincarnation, but lose the fluff about Devils, specifically- I don't think Shavarath is really a great fit. Likewise, I would eschew the alignment stuff, somewhat; by keeping the death and reincarnation fluff, this version of the Hellbred seem like excellent candidates for devotees or higher-ups of the BoV, so I'd want to leave that route fully open.

Just tie them to Dolurrh. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=773611)
