| angelofsorrow6602-20-08, 07:56 PM | Hi guys its dark angel with another odd post. what do you guys think about incorperating renaissance weapons in Eberron? Im not saying all classes can use them. towards that, here is my idea: I think fighters, Hexblades, samurai (both CW), and scouts (CA) can use muskets. Rogues, bards, sorcerers, swashbucklers (CW), fighters, rangers, and scouts (CA)can use pistols. clerics, Paladins, and wizards cannot use renaissance weapons to start out with. monks, barbarians, and druids cannot use them at all. thanks in advance |

Now my only beef with standard renaissance firearms is that I'm for the effect of the word gun. But not the word gun. So I have taken its mechanics and named it shardslingers. Then I made some fluff about them being made with bound elementals and firing Eberron shards. And I made them more expensive than what they already are. But that is my take on it, as many will tell you, you are free to do as you please. |

Mechanically they could work just fine, but I also like the idea that they're elemental powered. Also, I think they should be an exotic weapon proficiency, not a class item. |

People will want to know why their Swashbucklers, Dread Pirates, and other classes closely associated with gun-slinging aren't proficient. I'd also keep the reloading times, but drop the need to carry around powder AND bullets, and the "useless when wet rules. Needless book keeping. The weapons themselves aren't very powerful, and some explanation about them using alchemical substances to propel metal balls is easy enough to work out. |
