| treon03-06-07, 11:58 PM | i know i can't be the only one thinking that there needs to be a fighter/artificer combo that is on par as a base class with the ranger or pally. and so i was just wondering if anyone had any bright ideas as to how this might work? |

I believe it is called a multiclassed fighter/artificer. Probably warforged. |

Adopt the Eldritch Knight PrC and allow for progression in Infusions / Day instead of Spellcasting, or just make a Gestalt fighter / artificer. |
| Vharuck03-07-07, 03:05 PM | This is what they introduced multiclassing for. No need to reinvent the wheel. In fact, a straight artificer (IIRC they have 3/4 BAB) isn't a bad fighter if you build him right. |
| Cambian0003-08-07, 10:31 AM | There was a warforged artificier in a game that I was playing in. With the right infusions at the beginning of a battle, he was just as effective in combat as the House Deneith fighter in the group. |
| Subtle Knife03-08-07, 11:18 AM | You might want to consider the Spellcarved Soldier PrC (RoE) as well - it can really potentiate the ability of the warforged to use infusions, as well as other fun benefits, and has the highest BAB progression (IIRC). SK |
| treon03-08-07, 08:56 PM | a Gestalt fighter / artificer. i would love to but my dm says it'd be overpowered. and i'm not saying an artificer makes a bad fighter type, personally i think the druid and cleric aren't that far off it either it's just that i would like to see a more martial oriented class with infusions around, one that would be on the same level with the ranger or pally. |

I've been throwing around the idea of using Gestalt as another option for multiclassing, to get that old 2e dual class feel. Instead of getting two classes at once for free though, you'd spend xp on each class seperately. So, say that after getting 500 xp, you could spend it to buy the first level of another class. Reset xp for both classes to 0, and then track xp seperately for each class. As in, once you become a Rogue 1//Fighter 1, and you get a thousand xp, you decide if you want to become a Rogue 2//Fighter 1, or a Rogue 1//Fighter 2. You essentially play two characters in one body, tracking xp like you would for two characters, but using the gestalt rules as a base. |
| ChristopherGroves03-08-07, 10:58 PM | Does Artificer need any help? Really, persistent Divine Power, Divine Favor, etc. make it pretty mean already. Throw in Personal Weapon Aug and he's starting to look pretty fierce, nacht? |
