Hey guys quick question, If you decide to take a race with level adjustments (such as drow 2 lvl) do you get skill points and hit points for those 2 levels? For the life of my today I cant remember and I am away from home working on a character idea and just cant remeber...

Thanks for any help..

short answer is no.

Also check out the SRD if you have internet access.

You don't get any Hit Dice-based improvements from a level adjustment, such as hit points, skill points, base attack bonus, base saving throws, or feats.

The lack of hit points, skill points, saves and BAB is the precise difference between Level Adjustment and Racial Hit Dice.

Thanks guys it just wasnt sticking in my head. I have 9 levels to play with and I am not at home with the books. Anyways what xp cost is it to get to 2nd lvl and what is it to get to 9th lvl so I know what actual character class level I am? I figured its two levels for drow and those would be level one and two so I might fall at either 7th or 8th level based on xp.
So the big question is how much xp do I loose 1000 for 2nd level or the cost to get to 3rd level?

thanks

I don't think you lose any XP at all. You're a 9th level character, you have a 9th level character's xp. A character with 5 class hitdice and a +4 LA has as much XP as the 9th-level guy with no LA.

Running with your Drow example, you have just as much XP as everyone else, you're effectively a 9th level character and have the same XP and gold of any 9th level character. The difference is what makes up your 9 levels. 7 of your 9 levels will be actual class levels, like wizard, or rogue and the remaining 2 "levels" are made up of your level adjustment.
