| CalebCC08-07-07, 02:00 PM | Has anyone done aything with the living construct subtype since warforged? The only Eberron book I have is the campaign book, so I'm kinda in the dark here. Also, what all have you all done with the subtype? It seems to me a hard subtype to create stuff with. kthanks. |
| DragoonDarkfire08-07-07, 02:40 PM | Well there's the Warforged variants. Charger, scout and such. There's also a template in Magic of Incarnum that grants a construct the subtype. Aside from that, not much else. |
| Edymnion08-07-07, 07:07 PM | There are several monsters that use it. Don't recall their proper names, but the Warforged squid, the Warforged Raptor (looks like a cross between a dragonfly and a goose, very stupid), and the Quorforged all use it, IIRC. |
| Belabras08-07-07, 08:53 PM | The new Modron stats use it too. |
| CalebCC08-08-07, 10:52 AM | Okay, how about some homebrew stuff? |
| naturax08-08-07, 11:03 AM | The new Modron stats use it too. There's stats for the Modron? Where? |
| glug08-08-07, 12:21 PM | Since this is right up top, and my question is different but on the same subject, I figure I won't start a fresh thread. Punch me if I should have. Warforged are Type: Construct and Sub-Type: Living Construct. This means that they can't be effected by spells like "Enlarge Person", correct? Or anything that has target: humanoid? What about psionic powers, such as 'Dominate, Psionic', which typically have augmentations that allow them to effect different Types, but never include Construct due to their lack of a mind in the first place? Should the Living Construct subtype be retro-included as a +2/+4 augment for mind-effecting psionic abilities? |
| CalebCC08-08-07, 01:33 PM | As far as spell go, that is correct. I don't have XPH, so i don't know about all that. However, creating a new spell to target constructs would just be a matter of rewording it, and possibly making it a level higher, depending on how your players will use it. Maybe making it an artificer infusion instead might be enough too. Depends on your campaign. No punches necessary. |
| MDosantos08-08-07, 01:34 PM | There's stats for the Modron? Where? Dragon #354 :D |
| Ravenstein08-08-07, 02:29 PM | ...but the Warforged squid, the Warforged Raptor (looks like a cross between a dragonfly and a goose, very stupid)... OMG! Warforged Squid?! Where is that? I have to use that! I think I remember seeing those Raptors...where was that? |
| Rechan08-08-07, 06:07 PM | OMG! Warforged Squid?! Where is that? I have to use that! I think I remember seeing those Raptors...where was that? Squid: Five Nations. Raptors: Forge of War. |
| Ravenstein08-09-07, 09:02 AM | Thanks! I went and checked those mobs yesterday. Enh, I was a bit disappointed in the Steel Kraken's stats. I expected something bigger. |
| Belkar08-09-07, 11:35 AM | Thanks! I went and checked those mobs yesterday. Enh, I was a bit disappointed in the Steel Kraken's stats. I expected something bigger. Then whip out that Monster Manual and advance it in some hit dice! I used an advanced Steel Kraken of Legend as a nasty boss fight about a month ago. It was great!:D |
| bad_phil08-09-07, 04:31 PM | Is'nt the "warforged squid" the Steel Kraken actually? I don't recall a warforged squid in my book. By the way, the warforged scorpion exist in the Secret of Xen'drik Supplement. I don't remember if it got the living construct subtype. |
| CalebCC08-10-07, 09:41 AM | Yes, it is. Warforged Squid is just the pet nam for Steel Kraken. DM:Who's a good little squiddy? My little warforged squiddy! Now go eat those mean little adventurers up and bring me back all those magical goodies they have. Yes, such a sweet little squiddy! |

| CalebCC08-10-07, 12:11 PM | Anytime. :) :D :) |
| CalebCC08-10-07, 04:09 PM | Okay, how about we make some stuff? I really don't have any eberron books other than the campaign books, so..... What I was thinking was to make some new monsters and races, with some ideas listed below. --a charismatic and smart, yet physically weak, weak warforged that excels at sellcasting. uuuhhhhh, all I can think up know. brain strain, ya know. |
| Werebat08-10-07, 08:35 PM | Has anyone done aything with the living construct subtype since warforged? The only Eberron book I have is the campaign book, so I'm kinda in the dark here. Also, what all have you all done with the subtype? It seems to me a hard subtype to create stuff with. kthanks. I use it to represent cyborgs in my post-apocalyptic campaign. I even made up an Unliving Construct template for when my PCs fought the Iron Lich, who was himself an undead cyborg. - Ron ^*^ |
| dfarnsworth08-11-07, 12:51 PM | There was a template that gave the subtype. I think it was called Duststuffed or something and had to do with the Lords of Dust. Explorer's Handbook I think. |
| CalebCC08-11-07, 05:38 PM | Do you still have that unlving template lying around? That sounds right up my ally. Warforged vampires, I feel so warm inside! |
| Werebat08-12-07, 03:00 PM | Do you still have that unlving template lying around? That sounds right up my ally. Warforged vampires, I feel so warm inside! Eesh, it was a long time ago... And it was a little complicated as I had enhanced the Effigy template to make Sheens in the same campaign, and this was more the basis for the real changes that made a difference. IIRC I basically stuck Living Construct abilities onto the Undead type (there is a lot of overlap so not much problem there), added the Effigy template, and enhanced the lot by adding +2 Deflection bonus to AC (light force field), +1d6 electical damage to all natural attacks, and raised Int to 1 if it had previously been less than 1. Oh, I believe I made them harder to turn as well (Turning Resistance?) In the case of the Iron Lich the bonuses were not extreme, although he had a better AC that he otherwise would have had. In the case of his zombie minions, though... - Ron ^*^ |
