| RyuuzakiLawliet11-21-07, 03:19 AM | Nothing like late night to get your brain into a D&D mode. Anywho, I was wondering if a Shifter could contract Lycanthropy or be born with it? I mean I know in the description it says they are descendants of Lycans or have Lycanthrope blood in them like a sorcerer has dragon blood (supposedly). I mean aside from a character that could become a bit overpowered, I havent seen anything in the books about a Shifter not being able to contract or be born with this. Also this does pertain to my question as I dont want my NPC/recurring villain to be too overpowered. I made him a natural Lycan/Shifter and he is also a barbarian. Now for this question, could this person be able to shift (using shifter ability), fly into a rage while in their hybrid form? I know he already seems really tough and I want to make sure he isnt broken. Thanks |

What might help you is this article here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/as/20060918a). It don't really answer any of the questions, but it helps with the tone of the game. In my game i think i would go for can be aflicted, but not natural born. But then on the other hand, a lycan born amongst shifters could spark some great stories. Church of Silver flame taking up the torch against shifters once more etc. |

As I understand it the shifters even if they do come from the assumed heritage are still able to contract the lycan disease. As for a shifter barbarian I let them go for broke in my game and do both at the same time as well. |

Make him a trueborn shifter werebear that also is a paladin of the sovereign host, but the silver flame hates it and wants to off him, make him fall etc so they can kill him and everyone else... then the PCs get to know the bear before they have to choose sides etc. Best if someone follows the silver flame in the party. Or just make the bearpala a paladin of the silver flame, that should tick them of. |
