The figure before you seems to be evaporating even as you watch it, with whisps of silvery-white smoke rising off its alabaster frame. Its face is a smooth blank, as if it had evaporated long ago, yet it does not act as if blind.

The deathless of Eberron require an anchor to exist. The worship or veneration of descendants, drawing upon an Irian manifest zone; any or all of these may be prerequisites to deathless existance. However, the Aerenal elves are not the only, nor the first, culture to support a deathless population. Other civilizations exist, or have existed. The nigh-forgotten come from the latter.
When the anchor is gone, the deathless slowly start to decay, loosing their identity in the process until they become zerulatii. No one is quite sure how quickly a deathless degrades into the form of a nigh-forgotten, or how much longer they can retain even that weakened form, but a recent expedition into the heart of Xen'drik has reported an entire lost city populated with them.
A zerulatium's form is so eroded that it is nearly impossible to tell what kind of creature it used to be, save that it was medium sized and roughly humanoid.
Zerulatii do not speak, but can understand Common and Celestial.
Combat
A zerulatium is a near mindless opponent and quite incapable of advanced tactics. Normally peaceful, they will lash out when threatened, clinging to their last vestiges of existance with what little sense of self-preservation they have left.
A zerulatium is suprisingly tough to destroy because of this, it's last bit of essence concentrated on its physical body rather than mind, giving it a deflection bonus to armor class and impenetrable damage reduction.
Despite its apparent lack of sensory organs, a zerulatium can see and hear just as well as a human can.
Deathless Traits: See EBERRON Campaign Setting page 275.

Zerulatii can be summoned with the Summon Deathless I spell. This spell is in all other ways identical to Summon Undead I, except it has the [Good] descriptor, and can not be used to summon undead.
