As for "hybrid" creatures, you may want to look at the Anthropomorphic template in Savage Species for ideas.

06-26-07, 03:29 PM Firstly, my pet peeve. There is only one kind of Lycanthrope. The werewolf. "Lycan" means wolf. If a creature is not a werewolf, they are not a Lycanthrope. Other types of were-creatures are correctly referred to as "therianthropes".

...And *this* is my pet peeve. There is no "therianthrope" template in the Monster Manual, only a Lycanthrope template. Thus, the only appropriate D&D creatures to refer to would be Lycanthropes. Yes, D&D takes a word with fairly narrow meaning and generalizes it, but nobody seems to mind nearly as much that the "Devas" and "Rakshasas" (for example) are very different creatures in D&D vs. RL mythology, so why does this really warrent nitpicking?

If you want to get persnickety about anything, get that way about the usage of the work 'Lycan' as a lazy shorthand for 'Lycanthrope'. 'Lycan', AFAIK, is not used anywhere in the game, and was imported into the vernacular from a crappy movie. Getting worked up about this is as useless as pushing forth the erroneous belief that 'octopi' is the only correct plural of 'octopus'. BTDTGTTS.

Check out Lupins in Dragon Compendium (there's a thread about them in these forums somewhere) and Catfolk in Miniatures Handbook and Races of the Wild.

06-28-07, 02:17 PM I was more thinking of taking the lycan templet and then deviding the nuber by 2 and subtracting two. they have all the feats and special abilities that the base animal has.
