Before you is an everburning reptilian humanoid. Flames of purest silver crackle about it's shining cobalt scales, inexplicably leaving them unconsumed. It stares at you from its serpentine eyes and flexes its powerful claws.

The Shulassakar are the feathered servants of the Silver Flame, rumored to originally be humans blessed by the couatl themselves. The majority of their ruins are found in Sarlona, but as evidenced by the fortress of Krezent, the feathered servants can be found all over Eberron if one looks hard enough.
One such other fortress, Ibelanx, is located in the remote region known as the Everice, and is situated in an Irian manifest zone. The fortress was placed over the seals that bound a Rajah enamored with the power of undeath, so the Irian manifest zone was chosen specifically to counter his influence, and because of its extremely remote location.
Over the years, the Shulassakar of Irian started die off inexplicably. They feared that the Rajah was somehow the cause, and that the manifest zone was weakening. A ritual was created to infuse the manifest zone with the power of the Flame itself. The effect was subtle at first; whatever plague that assailed them had abated. Eventually however, the Undeparted started to appear as the corpses of valiant Shulassakar who died in righteous battle rose from the ground, transformed into deathless.
It is theorized that the ritual that bound the manifest zone to the Flame also created a link to allow the Shulassakar to chose to remain there rather than join with the Flame in death, joining instead with the manifest zone that housed its power. The Undeparted, when queried, coroborated this theory by admitting that every one of them had felt a desire to stay in Ibelanx and continue to protect the seals.
The Undeparted speak Shulassakar, plus Common, Draconic, and Celestial.
Combat
A Shulassakar Undeparted fights with the fervor of a holy warrior, believing that the Flame has granted it the honor of fighting for good and righteousness even after death.
Aura of Sacred Flame (Su): Any nongood creature that begins its turn within 10 feet of the Undeparted takes 1d8 damage. Half the damage is fire damage, but the other half results directly from divine power and is therefore not subject to being reduced by resistance to fire-based attacks. A Shulassakar Undeparted can supress or resume this ability as a free action. When it is active the Undeparted sheds light like a daylight spell.
Strength Drain (Su): Creatures hit by an Undeparted's claw attack must succeed on a DC 16 Fortitude save or take 1d4 points of Strength drain. The save DC is Charisma-based.
Curse of Torpor (Su): A creature reduced to Strength 0 by an Undeparted is afflicted with a powerful curse that renders it unconcious and in a state of suspended animation. The creature does not age while the curses is in effect. If the curse is lifted, the creature begins to age again, but time spent cursed does not "catch up" to it. Shulassakar sometimes request that an Undeparted uses this curse on one of their own, preserving them until such time as a worse affliction or wound can be treated.
To eliminate the curse of torpor, it must first be broken with break enchantment or remove curse (requiring a DC 20 caster level check for either spell), followed by a remove paralysis spell.
Deathless Traits: See EBERRON Campaign Setting page 275.
Skills: An Undeparted with an active Aura of Sacred Flame recieves a –20 penalty to Hide checks.

A Shulassakar Undeparted can be summoned with the Summon Deathless V spell. This spell is in all other ways identical to Summon Undead V, except it has the [Good] descriptor, and can not be used to summon undead.
