However, I have some questions about the setting I’m hoping y’all can provide some insights on. Do the races of Eberron have any creation myths beyond how the world was created? I really dig the myth of the three progenitor dragons and how they (seemingly) formed the world, but I’d like to see some race-specific legends about how their peoples came to be. Are elves and gnomes at all connected to Thelanis, the Faerie Court? Where do dwarves believe they came from? Has there been any mention of why only a handful of sentient races on Eberron have been Dragonmarked? Why not centaurs or goblins or sahuagin?

Somehow related to the Prophecy, so no one has a definite explanation on how/when/why they appear. Read up on Aberrant Dragonmarks though, because there used to be a lot more different kinds of marks than there are now.

Although the aberrant marks still only appeared on the PHB races, just to clarify. As for the origin of species, they were created (possibly not in their current forms) by the dragon Eberron, along with all the other inhabitants of the world other than the fiends and the dragons. As for origins of specific races, these are the only ones I can remember: -Drow: created by the Giants from elven slaves -Warforged: created by House Cannith, but you knew that already, right? ;) -Gnomes: possibly related to wererats, detailed in a Dragonshard article (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20041129a). Here's the relevant text: The first mention of the gnomes can be found in the records of the Empire of Dhakaan. The Ghuurash Codex provides details about the first Dhakaani campaign against the "jungle rats" that infested the coast between the Howling Peaks and the Seawall Mountains. The gnomes of ten thousand years ago were feral and primitive -- a far cry from the civilization seen today. The hobgoblin sages believed that the gnomes were rodents that had been twisted by a conduit to Thelanis, or stunted, thin-blooded wererats that had lost the ability to shift forms. Proponents of this theory cited the small size of the gnomes, the strong instinctive bond within a family, the gnomish preference for burrows, and the racial ability to communicate with burrowing mammals.
R4za 10-05-07, 01:32 PM	The idea is that the three dragons created the species, as well. After they fought, Syberys created the new generation of dragons and became the ring, Eberron created the natural races and became the earth, and Khyber created fiends and horrors and became the underdark. I'll admit that's pretty generic on the natural races, though. But there's exceptions, the warforged are created, for example, and the kalashar are outcast spirits from the dreamworld merged with humans.
