| Concerto07-10-07, 09:22 PM | Well, this is an idea I had for a while but never took time to put down. After seeing the thread about large warforged, I decided I might as well give my own ideas a spin as well. The whole jist is basically a small sized cloth living construct. Tell me what you think. v Click down there v The documents contained herein are strictly confidential. Continued surveying of this material without proper authentification will result in immediate discharge from the factory and possible martial punishment. Purposefully revealing the contents of this letter to unauthorized peoples or beings may also result in punishment. It has come to the attention the commanders in the field that the roles of the warforged have been restricted due to their extreme weight and additionally their somewhat comprimised abillity to comunicate. Therefore it is neccesary to research an alternative model type to suit the specialized needs on the field and abroad. I hereby give the right to assemble a team and establish Project Tactical Analysis of Emotional and Bodily Attributes. Signed... Headmaster of Warforged Production Racial Stats Personality: Unlike normal warforged (which they often call Blockies), Taeba Warforged are extremely social and talkative. Physical Description: Taebas have been liked to large dolls. Their arms are noticably longer than other humanoids, with wrists reaching just below their knees. Their actual body is a skeletal frame, usually fitted with oversized cloth clothing that can be either bolted or clipped in at the shoulders, hip, and head. Almost all taebas have large hoods that seem to conceal their entire face, other than for two colored orbs that are their eyes. The head itself is truely little more than a metal orb with a mouth and eyes. Relations: Although called Tin Cans by those who distrust normal warforged, Taebas usually fare better because their ((Usually) flamboyant clothing. emotive sense of self, and un-intimidating stature make them feel less 'dead' than normal warforged to people. Some however, especial normal warforged, think that Taebas are nothing more than ornaments, and sometimes can get very vocal about their dislike of their smaller 'brothers'. Alignment: Usually any non-evil, non-lawful. Most Taeba cannot stand being exiled from society by being evil, or the restrictions of being lawful. Taeba Lands: N/A Religion: Although not particulary religion or non-religious, Taebas have been known to represent the more outgoing sides of many religions such as the Silver Flame and even the Traveler. Language: Common NickNames: Sfortzondo, Trumpet, Bottle, 5 Penny. Adventurers: Same as with normal warforged, but usually attracted to the idea of adventuring with others and glory. TAEBA RACIAL TRAITS Stat Adjustment:-4 STR, -2 CON, +2 DEX, +2 CHA Skill Penalty -2 on all intimidate checks. Size:Small Minimum carry weight: 50 Lbs. Special:Can wear Clothes after having them modified. Costs 1d20 Gold for each 100 GP of cost. Make the check for each individual piece of clothing. Form and Function: Jump and Climb are always considdered class skills. Clawed hands: Due to the clawwed nature of their hands, and their light weight, Taeba get a +5 to their Climb speed. Additonally, they have a natural attack that deals 1d4 damage. Finessful: Taeba may apply their DEX bonus to their attack bonus instead of their STR when attacking unarmed or with natural weapons. Nimble: A Taeba's jump is not limited by its height, and may use its DEX bonus instead of its STR bonus when making its Jump and Climb check. Additionally, the Taeba doesn't take any falling damage for the first 30 feet, and only have damage for each 10 feet afterwards. The 30 feet can be incresed by taking the 'improved structure' feat. Annoying: Taebas get a +2 to all checks that concern Insults. Base move speed: 30. A Taeba may move an additional 10 feet as a free action after normal movement, but takes a -4 on Light Weight checks, and -2 on reflex saves. Lunge: A Taeba is able to jump and latch onto opponents. When grappling a creature of medium or larger size, it gets a +2 on its grapple checks and can use its DEX bonus instead of its STR. If the Taeba is thrown or falls ontop of the oppoent, it gets to make a free attack of opportunity for 1d4 damage. If an enemy is able to suceed in an opposed grapple check however, the opponent may fling the Taeba, and make the Taeba take a move action to get back up if it fails its reflex save against the enemies STR. Additionally, if a wall or object is in the way of the thrown path, the Taeba takes 1d4 damage if it fails its Reflex save. Fire Weakness: Due to the amount of cloth of a Taeba, whenever a Taeba would have to roll to see if it has caught on fire, it must make the save twice. Hollow Frame: Bludgeoning weapons are more likely to critical strike, and have their threat range increased by 2. Light Weight: Whenever a normal attack is made against a Taeba, the Taeba must make a Reflex check against the opponents STR (d20 + STR modifier). If the check fails, the Taeba is thrown five feet (or more at DMs disgression) in the direction of the attack. The Taeba then must make a reflex check versus the opponents previously rolled STR check. If it fails, the Taeba is lands on its back and must spend a move action getting up. | N3palm07-11-07, 03:13 AM | I like the idea, you've worked it out nicely I think. I don't know, but the -4 str. is maybe a bit steep, but I don't have much experience with race creation |
| Nundahl07-11-07, 06:44 AM | The whole jist is basically a small sized cloth living construct. Tell me what you think. Remember kids, wherever you go, always bring a towel! Couldn't resist ... first thing that popped into my head. |

I don't know, but the -4 str. is maybe a bit steep, but I don't have much experience with race creation Well, I have always hated over-powered races, but I really don't know a lot about balancing races. I just thought I would need some drastic drawbacks for all the good things the race does get. |
| crow0407-11-07, 09:53 PM | looks nice, but i'd drop the str penlty to -2 and remove the free weapon finess. -4 is too harsh and free finess is too good |
| Altar_Boy07-11-07, 10:13 PM | Seems interesting. Perhaps not so much Warforged as a new breed of living construct. I would suggest you pick up Dungeon #149 and Monster Manual II. Both reference sentient items, with the Ragamuffyns of MMII functioning similarly to your design. Not saying anything bad, but just thought you'd like to see another person's design. :) |

The grand Concerto beseeches you  . looks nice, but i'd drop the str penlty to -2 and remove the free weapon finess. -4 is too harsh and free finess is too good Perhaps limiting the weapon finess to Natural Weapons, aka the claws and such? Also, what do you think about the feats? Are they too good? Too weak? |
| TiwazTyrsfist07-12-07, 05:23 PM | General rule of thumb on stat adjustments. Physical stats (Str, Dex, Con) Mental stats (Int, Wis, Cha) A -2 to a physical stat can buy a +2 to another physical stat, or a +2 to a mental stat. A -2 to a mental stat can buy a +2 to another mental stat. A -4 to a mental stat (or -2 to 2 stats) can buy a +2 to a physical stat. Also, a -2 to a stat generally buys a special ability/special quality a little better than a feat. That being said, I like them. They look pretty balanced on paper, though I'd have to play one to be sure. |

I made some changes to the finessesful abillity, so they get a limited "Weapons Finess" that applies only to unarmed and Natural Attack. Additionally, thanks to all the people who have commented. I appreciate the help. |
| Demangel07-15-07, 03:25 PM | Heheh ok I demand a rendered sketch of what this new class would look like. I'm picturing almost a possessed marionette like out of Devil May Cry, or the Eberron equal to the scarecrow from the wizard of Oz. But instead of being evil and wicked or just plain dumb, it's more like C-3PO LOL. "Hello... I'm D-4QP Human Warforged relations. I can speak over 2 dozen languages and..." |
| Symar07-15-07, 03:46 PM | o.O I am interested in this... Ragamuffyns you speak of. Tell me more. The grand Concerto beseeches you  . Ragamoffyns are constructs made from bits of scraps, and attach themselves to other creatures by covering them, taking control over them. Not quite what you're going for. |

I'll try to draw a picture, but I only have a scanner down in Washington((I am in Alaska right now)). Yah, I borrowed my friends MMII and looked at it.Not what I am going for xD. |
