I am working on a monster for my group, but can't quite think of how to make it work the way I want.

To give you the basics (and just about everything I've made thus far without typing stats): it is a powerful, lively CR 12-22, monster that whenever it kills something it consumes a piece of their soul and spawns a creature from this piece.

The creature is much like the original, but twisted into an abomination of what it once was.

I can’t really think of what kind of Template or whatever I should give the spawn.

Also these spawns as supposed to be as the title of the thread describes them "Perversions of Life, death, and reality."

Any help is welcome!:)

Forty views and no one has any ideas?
Well I'll see if more info will help.
I've been think about it more and this is what I've made.

This creature, loosely based around the Caller in Darkness monster presented in EPH, was created as a result of the Mourning (or we assume it was). It constantly "eats" the things around it and reforms them into twisted versions of themselves.

It eats just about anything, plants, animals, undead, Warforged, etc.

As he creates more spawn in this fasion they stay in a general area in the Morlands. There is basicly a forest of these pervertions filled with the animal, people, and plant spawns.

The creature (the BBEG one) either can't or doesn't leave this area no matter what and the spawn only ever go a short distance out as it seems to pain them to go overly far. Kinda like how a Dryad can't go to far from her tree.

I'm not too knowledgeable about templates, so I'm not sure I can offer much on the mechanical side of things, but I thought I'd toss in a couple flavor suggestions. :)

The Keeper is said to be the only god among the Sovereign Host and the Dark Six that can intercept souls on their way to Dolurrh. The "Lair of the Keeper," a cave in the Demon Wastes filled with Khyber dragonshards (ECS 162), is filled with entrapped souls, imprisoned within the Khyber shards.

If I was making this monster, I'd try to work a bit of that stuff into it. Maybe it was created by the energies of the Mourning interacting with a large Khyber dragonshard; maybe reports of the creature (or the creature itself, if it's intelligent and can speak) describe it as an emissary or avatar of the Keeper.

I'm seeing a mental picture of a large, hulking creature with bits of crystal poking out of its skin here and there, hinting at a large Khyber shard within... as it devours creatures, the shard within it grows and portions of it break off, spawning these new creatures with a portion of the Khyber shard lodged inside them somewhere.

Of course, if you have a completely different target idea for this, go with that, I'm just tossing out my take on your basic premise.

As for templates, hmm... based on your description, the Pseudonatural template (in Complete Arcane, and I believe MM2 although I don't have that book) sounds like a good fit, actually. Mechanically, it gives the creature DR/magic, some energy resistance, a horrific "alternate form" it can shift into that doesn't change any of its abilities but imposes a morale penalty on anyone trying to attack it, and the ability to True Strike once per day. Flavorfully, the creature looks like a warped, otherworldly mockery of the base creature type, and the alternate form is an unrecognizable mass of grotesque tentacles "or another appropriately gruesome form, as determined by the DM." Ordinarily, I'd use this template to quickly whip up a Daelkyr creation, but it sounds like it might fit your purposes.
