hey i`m thinking of table ruling this feat:
Powerful Body
it works just like the thing from RoS but gives u a +2 Str with a - 2 Dex

Do you mean that the feat gives you a +2 Str, and a -2 dex, or that it confers the powerful build trait as well as those adjustments.

The powerful build trait is not available as a feat, since it is as effective as two or three feats combined.
Add to that your ability modifiers, which will generally result in a net increase in power for the character who wants the ability, and you have something that most sane DMs will laugh in your face should you suggest it.

You could perhaps build up to Powerful Build, with a feat tree of three or four feats, and perhaps base attack prerequisites as well.

Another option might be to allow a warforged to take it as a level one feat only, change the ability adustments to just a straight +4 to strength, and apply a +1 LA.

wait powerful build is a racial trait, not a feat, so, I'm kind of confused on what your trying to do, are you combining that racial trait with a feat or are you making a whole new feat?

Perhaps it would be better to make another subrace of Warforged, like the Warforged Scout.

Call it the Warforged Caber or something like that, and give it the +4 to STR instead of the +2 to Con, Powerful Build, and a +1 LA.

And to further expand on this idea, make a Large sized (with appropriate bumps to str and con) give it a +2 LA and add the "Rock Catching" and "Rock Hurling" traits similar to Giants. Call it the Warforged Sieger.

I'd do it without the Stat bonus/penalty.

They just gain the "Powerful Build" trait, and are between 8 and 9 feet tall. Also, thier weight is probably almost triple...
Make a note of that.

Anyway, Powerful build isn't over powered in my opinion for use as a feat. It's just that, for the most part, having a character suddenly develop it would be odd. It would be clearly transformative. But as a warforged body feat which has to be taken at first level, it wouldn't be too odd.

I love the idea of a feat that gives you the Powerful Build racial ability. It's a potent ability though, giving you access to a lot of other abilities (the +1 size to weapons is practically inconsequential). For that reason, I would give it some hefty prereqs like Str 15 + Con 15 and maybe some "throw away" feat too like Toughness.

What do you think about this version:

Feat: Powerful Body (Warforged, 1st lvl only):
The Warforged character gets +4 to Str* and the Powerful Build trait (like a Goliath, see Races of Stone). This feat imposes a +1 Level Adjustment on the character.
(*or the Character gets +4 Str, -2 Dex, +2 Con (for a total of +4 Con))

or, alternatively:
Feat: Powerful Grip (Warforged, Str 17, Con 15, Power Attack, Monkey Grip): The Character can use weapons one size category larger than normal without penalty. This counts for both melee and ranged weapons.

-> This feat would expand on the Monkey Grip feat (I think it appears in Complete Warrior, and lets you use larger melee weapons with an attack penalty) and has heavy prerequisites (2 feats and high abilitiy scores).
Also, it does not give the character any other bonuses the Powerful Build racial trait gives you, such as a bonus to Intimidate and Grapple.

But if you make it a "first level only" feat, then the person would not be able to take either of the "X Body" feats. Balance wise, it could work, but flavor wise makes little sense.

Why would house Cannith make something capable of grappling giants, but fail to apply adamantine plating to it?

Perhaps there's a Component in this idea? "Warforged Backbrace: Grants you the Powerful Build ability. Remember to lift with your knees."

Just take the Jotenbrud feat.

Okay, Garden has a point here... one feat at first level, right...
This happens when you make up to many with house rules. *g*
(In my house rules, Warforged get one Warforged feat for free at first level; I find them rather unbalanced (to their misadvantage), because the already have negative ability modifiers, and imo their type-based advantages are not greater than those of, say, a dwarf, a halfling or an elf.)

So, I would adjust the feat in this way:
Feat: Powerful Body (Warforged, 1st lvl only):
The Warforged character gets +4 to Str and the Powerful Build trait (like a Goliath, see Races of Stone). This feat imposes a +1 Level Adjustment on the character, as well as -1 to Reflexe saves and Initiative. A character with this feat gets the Adamantine Body or Mithral Body feat for free and may have an additional +2 Con, but -2 Dex.
