| Phobos07-24-07, 08:07 PM | For as long as I have played, I've never used prestige classes, so when I finally wanted to, I'm a bit lost on how. Here is an example: I have a level 8 Razerclaw Shifter Ranger, I wanted to take Weretouched Master. The razerclaw ability gives me a +2 STR, but the WTM (bear) also gives me a +2 STR, do they stack? My current Base Attack is +8/+3, I get a Base Attack +0 from the WTM. Same with my Saves, I have F6, R6 and W3, but the WTM gives a F2, R2, W0 Last, and probably not least, what about feats, where one gives me a +2, and then I get a class feat that gives me a +3 to the same ability, does this stuff stack? If you have a feat that can be taken multiple times, and you already have it once when you get it from a prestige, does that count then as having it twice? Sorry, I know these are basic questions, that's what I get for never using any of them before... |

Sorry, I know these are basic questions, that's what I get for never using any of them before... First off, check the bonus types. They should stack, but check anyway just in case. Are they enhancement bonuses, morale bonuses, competence, etc. BAB you just add the two together. So your BAB will not change. Same with your saves, your F goes up by 2, R up by 2, W up by 0... Without knowing what feat you are talking about, I cannot answer with any certainty (for the bonus question)... However, if it is a feat that you may take multiple times, if it states that you get it as part of the class, then it is as if you purchased it again... |
| Phobos07-24-07, 09:34 PM | Thank you. I think in my case, with him being a Shifter Razorclow, that ability gives a +2 STR stat bonus on shift. It also happens that Weretouched Master I (bear) grants a +2 STR stat bonus on shift. Granted I could have picked a different WTM shifter type, for different stat bonus, but I liked the bear. Sadly, it makes no mention if this is a cumulative bonus. Both are in the ECS pages 20 and 86. |
| TiwazTyrsfist07-25-07, 12:10 AM | So, this class is specifically for shifters. It's safe to assume that things are intended to stack with your inate shifter stuff. So, a razorclaw shifter who takes bear would get +4 str bonus while shifting. Your saves would be F8 R8 W3. Your claws are D6's. |

BAB for many of the presige classes is a single plus, where for example my ranger has currently 8/3, does the BAB plus for a prestige apply only to the main attack, and we assume the secondary does not increase, and thus he will never see the possible 4 attacks a ranger could have, or does it actually apply to both, so that a +1 BAB would make it 9/4 In some ways I wonder why we never used these before, in others...now I see why! :) |

Characters get iterative attacks as a result of having a BAB greater than 5; PrCs don't need to list the iterative attacks in this manner (and often don't, as they try not to make too many assumptions about what class combination one will enter the PrC with) |
