Question on Warforged and Dragons. [Archive] - Wizards Community

First, can a Warforged be a Dragon shaman? If so does the healing stuff get replaced by a generic regeneration or would it still be like a cleric healing?

Second, are there any recomended changes to the half dragon template that you can think of if applying it to a Warforged?

Just how does natural armor work on warforged as they don't have skin or scales?

Yes they can, there is nothing in the racial entry that says they can't. Their healing would be just like every other Dragon Shaman's.

Nope. Just apply and play.

It works the same as any other creature. Their outer layer becomes tougher and harder to damage. With Warforged, this applies not only to their composite plating but to their organic elements as well.

On the other hand, if you are a player and not the DM, run it by your DM first. While I personally wouldn't have a problem with a Warforged taking levels in Dragon Shaman, I would seriously object to a PC half-dragon warforged on the basis that it just isn't possible within the logic of the setting. Half-dragon is an inherited template, so I wouldn't allow it to be applied to a PC that has no parents (in the genetic sense of the term) without an in-game (not "pre-game" or "backstory") explanation. I can think of several easy ways to alter the flavor of the template so that the build makes sense, but they all seem too far out to happen as mere backstory... and that is usually a pretty strong indicator of "barely plausible story to justify powergaming"-itis. ;)

That said, you (and your DM, if applicable) are free to play in anyway that is mutually acceptable to your group. if you want a Dragon-forged, go right ahead and have fun!

It only means that it is something they had to be born/created with. It is the flip side of an acquired template, which you can gain later in life.

As long as the WF came out of the creation forge with the template, it can have whatever inherited template it can meet the prereqs for. If the DM should allow templates is another thing all together.
