| xaryuo07-10-07, 01:00 PM | I'm playing in an Eberron campaign and my last character (humain artificer) died from an encounter way too high for her. Now I'm thinking to do a shifter, but I'm hesitating between a ranger or a druid. The rest of the party is composed of a warforged paladin, a changeling rogue/fighter, an elf ninja/sorcerer and a gnome wizard. I don't really know what to do, wich feat to take. Some one help me please. |
| GreatOne07-10-07, 01:07 PM | Go with druid and take the shifter druid sub lvls. Make sure you go into moonspeaker when you get the chance. Since the party doesnt really have a healer the druid will fill that nitch quite nicely. Besides a shifter druid going into moonspeaker kicks butt. |
| xaryuo07-10-07, 01:09 PM | Ok for a druid, but we are mostly playing in the city of sharn. A druid in a city, isn't a bit wierd? And if a do a druid wich is the best focusing on the shifting ability or the animal form of the druid? Is there a way to combine the two? |
| GimliGloinson07-10-07, 01:19 PM | I agree with Great One, go Druid with the Shifter substitution levels from Races of Eberron. You'll replace your wild shape with additional shifting and replace the animal companion with something much more useful, IMHO. With the sub-levels you don't have to mess with the twitchy wild shape/shapechanging rules that are out there these days. As far as druids in cities, it's a non-issue, really. There's nature and life everywhere, and where better to try and show people the beauty of nature than in a city that reaches the clouds? :) |
| xaryuo07-10-07, 06:41 PM | If we forget the fact that there is a lack of healing in my party, what about a shifter barbarian going for weretouch master? |
| GimliGloinson07-11-07, 10:01 AM | I like shifter barbarians just fine. I just don't care for the weretouched master. I think it's nasty-broken. But that's me. I still think, even aside from the healing aspect, the druid would be a much better contributor to the group you've got. If you'd rather go barbarian, I'd suggest straight barbarian or if you must how 'bout Bear Warrior (CW 16-17). |
| Werebat07-12-07, 07:24 PM | If we forget the fact that there is a lack of healing in my party, what about a shifter barbarian going for weretouch master? Surprise the world and go with a Swiftwing Shifter monk. No, really. They kick butt. Well, OK -- they're the ONLY way for a Swiftwing to not suck. But they DO make great monks! - Ron ^*^ |

The other types aren't broken at all. In fact, even Weretiger WTM is OK is you get rid of the Pounce ability and replace it with something a bit less over the top. - Ron ^*^ |
| posternutbag07-12-07, 10:42 PM | I'm a big fan of Shifter Monks and have said I think Shifters make great Monks. I am not a huge fan of Barbarians, but a Barbarian/WTM would be a good combo since Rage stacks with Shifting. You could go Ranger WTM just as easily or even Druid/WTM, although ECS says there is little point, I can see some upside, just the lost caster levels would hurt. Still a Druid/WTM or even Druid/WTM/Moonspeaker would be solid. I have played Druids in primarily urban campaigns, they get along fine. Your party will need a healer though, or you will wind up giving a lot of money to Halflings. |
| bad_phil07-13-07, 02:02 PM | Reading you post Xaryuo, I saw your speak french. Comme moi. I'm from Quebec by the way, but that's not the point. I once played a shifter/BarbarianWTM...and they do kick butts. I got the razorclaw trait and the feats to improve them. It's a good way to somekind of Wolverine(X-men) character....you know..a rager. But I agree that your group could use a druid/moonspeaker. Good class, personally I would use the dreamsight traits, with the coresponding feats, or you could take a more melee trait if you like. For the sharn campain, maybe you could use the urban druid. Though i'm not use that Shifter druid subs levels from races of Eberron could be taken. They are good levels by the way. |
| Inlad_The_Dashing_Paladin07-14-07, 05:10 PM | Now, I haven' tryed this yet, but I would go for a Ranger/Babarian Reach Runner. But sence ur Group has a ninja, this speed demon setup may not be the best. . .^_^;; Hey, It's whatt I would do. Sayonara! Inlad The Dashing Paladin. |
| igigi07-17-07, 04:36 PM | I recommend you a shifter monk - ardent. You should take the feat tashalatora, experienced manifester, expanded knowledge (claws of the beast /PW/) and the feat in Dragon magazine 355 which allows to stack claw and unarmed damage. This is a melee skeleton. If you need a healer in the party, just pick up Life mantle, and you'll be better than any other healer ;D |
| Rekko07-17-07, 07:22 PM | What personality would you like to give your shifter? How would he interact with your party members? How did he came by Sharn? That could prove useful clues to chose your class. Rekko |
