Is there any portion of the world where Warforges are Captured and sold for slave labor?

May be a stupid question.

That would be the Goblinoid nation of Darghuun - well, just about everyone can be captured and sold for slave labor there.

Technically, the Treaty of Thronehold forbids slavery, warforged or otherwise. However, the Treaty does not apply in the Shadow Marches or Droaam, and seems to be ignored in Darguun, as far as this article is concerned. The Shadow Marches seem to be relatively free of slavery, but Droaam and Darguun still keep slaves. Mostly local goblins, kobolds, captives from the war against Breland and Cyre, and victims of occasional border raids. Warforged, given their advantages over other slaves, will almost certainly exist, if not in any great number.

Then, of course, there is the underground slavetrade. The fact that the Treaty of Thronehold forbids it does not mean that warforged are not enslaved by the more criminal elements of society. I believe such an institution was mentioned in Blood and Honor, and another illegal slave-trading operation is mentioned in the Forge of the Mindslayers, both in Karrnath. The first is specifically about the warforged, iirc, the second does not mention them... but it would not be unreasonable to assume such criminal networks exist.

Karrnath and Thrane both consider warforged to be indentured servants (iirc, the idea is that the Warforged have to pay for what it cost the nation to have them created, so it is a form of debt-slavery), and in some cultures, such indentured servants may be sold (usually with the land they belong to). I am under the impression that they are 'owned' by the State, though, not any individual, so that might be more problematic. They could well be loaned out to private individuals against a fee, though.

I think I saw something on an article or in one of the Eberron rule books that mention that some places still use them as slave...

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I remember that deep within Sharn, some warforged are working as slave in the forges in the cogs or in the depps. Maybe some other races are use as slave too in theses places, but I recall something about Merrix d'Cannith that still use them.....Imagine if the autorities hear about this. But that's far in my memories....

Anyway, a camp of warforged slave to free would be a nice quest for good adventurers, it's up to you to decide.

I'm pretty sure you can "Buy" and indentured servant by paying his dept and then asking him to repay you by working in your blacksmithery at night, your stables in the morning, your fields in the day and cleaning your house on the weekends...

You can even pay them 5 copper a week, and then take it back, and then deduct 2 gold for that teacup the poor fellow broke that was worth only a silver.

And if the Warforged makes to much money, just have him juggle hammers next to the china. Not the good china the crummy stuff your mother-inlaw gave you.

In Thrane and Karrnath, a lot of warforged are treated as indentured servants, which pretty much makes them slaves.

Elsewhere, employers can play on the naievety of warforged and maked them work extremely long hours for low pay. (Better yet, don't let them out of the workplace so they never heard about other people earning a lot more.)

I think in the dragonmark book it talks about how the new warforged that are made in secert by Merrix d' Cannith in Sharn have no idea of their rights and are treated a "slaves" by the house cannith in Sharn.

they aren't numerous enough to be 'captured' and used as slaves. moreover, they are almost all hardened combat veterans and it's probably not a good idea to try.

that being said, some live in debt slavery in thrane and karrnath.

How does being numerous influence that? Are humans, being the dominant species on Khorvaire, especially likely to be enslaved?

They also rarely have a real concept of what freedom means. Capturing them may be hard, but then you've got a tireless worker with a relatively small risk of escaping.

Capturing them may be hard, but then you've got a tireless worker with a relatively small risk of escaping. But also with natural weapons, the ability to hustle away from you all night and a hundreds-strong terrorist organisation dedicated to freeing them from the fleshies.

So if you do want to work the naievity angle, keep them working in the mines away from people who may seek to free them.

The Lord of Blades wouldn't treat warforged as property per se, but he might have an attitude of "either you're our ally or you're our enemy, and if you're our ally, you can fight alongside us, and if you're our enemy, then we'll kill you, as we'll kill any enemy of the New Order." This could, in practical terms, have the same effect as enslavement, since if a warforged tries to leave, the Lord of Blades' officers say, "aha! You're an enemy of the New Order, or else you'd be sticking around to help us! Die!"

I'm sure there could be slaves in the Demon Wastes, and I wouldn't put it past the Valenar Elves either. Then there are the Lhazaar pirates who don't seem to be too concerned about sentient rights' violations. Then what about Xen'drik? Does the Thronehold Treaty apply there? Could some warforged be kept as slaves in some isolated zone?

I'd say there are plenty of places warforged, or anyone, could be kept as slaves on Eberron.

Nope - which is the reason there may even be plans for exporting and erecting a construction forge there...

Omax, the character from the book, is treated like trassh every where he goes. Imaybe the fact that most people see warforged as killing machines likely to go off on a rampage any second. Even some of his friendslook at him that way. Remember his back story is that he was a mindle killing machine until the monks and their temple, where he was trapped under ground with only his on actions to think on for years, until found by he Artificer.

There is also a talk between the halfling scout and omax, in Stormhome, about how the world sees their two races. Omax as a killer and the halfling as a troublemaker and thief.

Not in Eberron, no. There, we still have a good deal of the halflings being barbarians and rangers on the plains.

not very many EXCLUDING the folllowers of the LoB are killers except when they need to be also the merc warforged mostly kill
We've got a race created only for war. It doesn't matter what the WF do now - two years ago, not one of them was seen doing anything beside killing, maiming and destroying.
That doesn't really lead to being welcomed with open arms...

Mind you yes the average Halfling is either an uncouth and violent plainsmen or a thief and trouble maker. Their only saving grace is house Gholandra and it's ability to portray the entire race in a positive light.

My point was in the Characters in the book he was talking about had a discusion about how the world looks at each race. The warforged are seen as killers or tool or just inhuman things. This is a a stereotype of the warforged. Just as many people stereotype different types people in our world. Look at the Clan and Black Panthers in America or the way ancient Greeks looked at everyone as subhuman. The halfling and the warforged were haking the point that it is unfar but the way things are.

Yes many halflings even in eberron are theives and known as liers but but of it. most americans are thought to be rude stupied a$$holes around the world but does that mean that I am. I am if anyone wants to agree.
