I'm a long time Transformers and Beast Wars fan and I'm wondering if anyone who watched the movie thought Megatron looked alot like the Lord of Blades?

On a further note how would you guys do the builds for the Autobots and Decepticons as Warforged? Not looking for transformation really I just want a discussion on what Warforged build would fit each of the Transformers.

I'm thinking Bumblebee would be something along the Lines of a Mithril Body Warforged Fighter?

I can see where you're coming from, although I sure as heck hope that LoB gets more screentime than Megatron did...

I agree it really annoyed me that megatron was around for only about 15 minutes in the movie. Come on the fight between Optimus and Megatron was the best part of the movie.

If I where to make warforged characters like the transfornmers I'd do something like this:

Optimus Prime: Warforged paladin 7/legendary leader5 (seriously this guy's there for his troups)

Megatron: Warforged fighter7/warmage5

I'm still not sure on the other thought...

What're you on? The best part was the insane little Nokia Transformer.

That's kinda what I'm seeing for this, the others would be varried classes with a level or two of fighter.

Honestly, I never compare megatron to the Lord of Blades. Maybe the lord of blades could act like him, but clearly not looking like him. Yes megatron did not have a lot of screen time, but the movie rocked.

When Dwarftpcfan said that Optimus is there for his troop, yes it's true, but I did not like the part when Bundlebee get captured.....seriously, I god Jazz opinion. They literraly abandonned him, not the way Optimus Prime would be. And don't tell me the excuse Optimus gave was good. Please, they were scared to kill humans? Their mere presence could have make the humans run away. Anyway we're not on a Transformers post,so I will calm myself. Exept for some strange scenes, the movie was awesome.!!!!!!

The movie was awesome, and it defiantly exceeded my expectations. I do wish Megatron was featured more. :(

Anybody else now want to run an Autobots vs Decepticons "Eberron style" campaign? Lord of Blades is Megatron, and a warforged paladin can be the leader of the warforged Autobots.
Warforged autobots and decepticons FTW! :D

A good pick for Optimus Prime would be Three, the Warforged Paladin mentioned in The Five Nations. The fact that Three and the Lord of Blades may have some connection to each other -- if the LoBster is, indeed, the new incarnation of the Warforged previously known as Bulwark, who used to be King Boranel's other Warforged advisor -- adds to this.

Although, I have to say, I'm not feeling the Megatron/LoBster connection much at all. Seriously, they don't look that much alike. You could go through the entire history of "evil fighting robots" in science fiction and say the same thing about every one of them.

Who is the Three? I don't have The Five Nations.

He's a warforged Fighter/paladin loyal to Boranel. I don't recall exactly, but it's true that he may be connected to the lord of blades...at least at the DM discretion.

It's implied that one of the possible identities of the Lord of Blades might be Bulwark, Boranel's trusted friend, companion and advisor. We think it might be Bulwark because Bulwark was the one who pushed very hard for Boranel to get the Warforged freedom clause put into the Treaty of Thronehold -- and then immediately after the treaty was signed, Bulwark disappeared, and was witnessed running for the direction of the Mournland.

Three and Bulwark are never mentioned together, but since they've *both* been devoted companions of King Boranel since the war and are both highly sophisticated Warforged with strong opinions about freedom and duty, a brother-vs-brother relationship would make sense for them, similar to Optimus Prime and Megatron in Transformers. (Especially given Three's status as a Paladin of the Silver Flame.)

Maybe you didn't notice how Section 7 was (somewhat) ready for the transformers, or, y'know, the part where they captured Bumblebee? If the Autobots had tried confronting them without using lethal force, the humans would have gleefully roped and frozen them all.

For builds, I'd say Frenzy (the little decepticon that transformed into a stero) is a Warforged Scout rogue with Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Chakram) and two +1 reloading hand crossbows.

Warforged Goblin has already seen this.

Having seen the movie now, I can't say I really see the resemblance between the Lord of Blades and Megatron.

Give me a break. I you see a giant robot pointing his crazy missiles guns or plasma guns at you, do you really think you would win at the intimidate game? (Not talking D&D here). Yes it would have been dangerous for humans and Autobots side, but that would have taught a lesson to the humans. Don't &?$/ with us!! It's so american to desire the control of everything.

Did you or did you not see them take down Bumblebee? You and I might react as you describe, but then, I imagine we'd react much the same to a few regular guys with guns. Those humans, though, were soldiers who'd trained specifically for that scenario and demonstrated that they could take down transformers unwilling to hurt them. The Autobots could wave their guns around and **** lubricant on everything in sight, but it wouldn't matter when the soldiers actually fought and the robots didn't. Section 7 would just be all the more convinced that they're doing the right thing by capturing the giant war machines from space when the latter threatened them.

And let's not throw around silly platitudes. For all their faults, the United States are certainly not the most - let alone the only - power-hungry or controlling country in the world. Surely, I don't need to list current oppressive and war-mongering regimes?

Thats pretty funny, I actually played a campaign once where I was a warforged/giant/changeling(don't ask) who could become a jet three times a day :D we ended up battling some Illithid airships that also had a warforged/giant/changeling that I had to fight.

Ooh if Megatron is the Lord of Blades, I nominate Hatchet to be Optimus Prime. Hatchet, the leader of the Reforged had this as one of his main reforged tenets: "All living beings have the right to choose". Sound familiar?:D
ArcTan

07-23-07, 03:10 AM
Hatchet doesn't sound like a particularly good guy nor like a particularly direct opponent of the LoB. Remember that Reforged can just as easily be evil as good (after all, you have the right to choose).

Have you ever heard of Godwin's Law? It basically says you're an idiot. Now, please go away and let relatively meaningful discussion continue.

On topic, I think I'll play around with the d20 Modern/Future ruleset and see if I can stat some transformers. The result should be applicable to D&D without too much trouble, and I'll look into making warforged versions that turn into airships and lightning coaches and such.

Over at the Giant in the Playground Forums (www.giantitp.com) I remember seeing a d20 write-up for Optimus. That'd be a decent place to start. Also, the Urban Druid from the Dragon Compendium has the ability to Urbanshape into Animated Objects. As was covered in the "Warforged/Alter Self" thread, these animated objects could be any object. So, at sufficient level, one could turn into flying carriages or lightning rail cars.

First of all, I did not write the part about Nazis. A friend of mine did on my computer. So I apologize for that. The previous post was me. But, if you feel concerned, ask yourself why.

Yeah ... what's the deal with that? They suped up Optimus but Megatron looks blah? They should old school it to make it more appealing to a larger crowd.

I really don't know if Megatron looked like the Lord of Blades; but . . . Marvel's character Apocalypse would make a great template for the Lord of Blades. ;)

You mean physically or as a character?

Apocalypse kind of looks like the Lord of Blades, but the tubes look dumb, and there aren't any, well, blades.

More to the point, Apocalypse's MO is way too insane and, well, apocalyptic to make him the LoB. He's much more like a Cultist of the Dragon Below.

Magneto is the much more obvious LoB template.

I remember once seeing a build for a warforged character that was inspired by Starscream.

It was basically a mix of rogue, warlock, and scout who did nothing but fly/zip around and shoot bolts of energy.

It was really pretty neat.

Which Apocalypse are you referring to, though? I think that the one from the Age of Apocalypse would be more appropriate.

With that, I will have to say that I see strong similarities between Apocalypse and Megatron and Lord of Blades .... seems to fit the MO
