Sovereign Speaker--Dark Six? [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-13-07, 11:45 AM See, I personally like the concept of a TN Cleric five with a PrC called "Speak of the Host" and make Sovereign Speaker into a 15 level PrC.

03-13-07, 01:15 PM It does fit in rather nicely that you can finish soverign speaker at level 14 and have six levels up into 20.

I'd be inclined to make it similar to the soverign speaker (Six levels, full spellcasting except for level 3, granted domains at each level, grant proficiency in the six's weapons, bonus 3rd level slot at level 3, bonus 5th level slot at level 6.)

Then I'd suggest a feat which can only be taken by someone with at least three levels in both Soverign Speaker and "Six Speaker" which would grant a bonus 9th level slot once the character is able to cast spells of that power. (At Character level 20) in addition to some lesser, super nifty ability. (Perhaps being able to channel positive and negative energy.

Of course, someone persuing this dual path would attract negative attention from both sides of the religion.

03-20-07, 06:16 PM Technically depending on how your character views the host you could actually have both. There are a rare few who believe in the Sovereign Host including the six as part. So you could actually finish out the prestige class with 15 instead of 9. Make sure to remove +1 level of existing divine at 11th level and add an extra domain slot at 12th and 15th. It will make him slightly less respected among the younger vassals and the more devoted of the host but others will respect him for understanding the need for balance in the world, ie that without evil good has no true meaning. If you are thinking of going just dark six then you would have to rethink the class. Yes he would have the domains but it would only go to sixth level, as was pointed out before.

The Host is viewed in a much more cohesive light by its followers, whereas the Dark Six really don't have much in common beyond the fact that they were expelled from the Host. Likewise, followers of the Host generally hold them all as equal, and devotion to just one is viewed as odd, whereas among followers of the Dark Six, devotion to just one is the norm, and the most recent attempt to foster some kind of unity fell apart rather acrimoniously.

As a result, a "Dark Six Speaker" would be viewed as an anomaly, and probably a rather dangerous one at that, even by other followers of the Six. This is in stark contrast to Sovereign Speakers, who are regarded as champions of the collective power of the Host.

04-19-07, 11:25 AM The reason the prestige class is only 9 levels is because you can't have more than 2 of the same domains from any of the deities. The example given in the entry states: you can select the strength and war domains but NOT the good domain because Dol Dorn has all three.

The prestige class is also nine levels long which means it can't be extended, Any PrC less than ten levels by the rules( except at DM discretion).

If you want to do a Dark Speaker you could get it to be 5-7 levels at most.
