This is an inherited template that can be added to any living, corporeal creature native to Eberron, except for those that would make absolutely no sense. Like fiends. :D

-2 Con, +2 Wis, +2 Cha
Aura of Good (Ex): Regardless of actual alignment, a Syranian Planetouched has an Aura of Good equal to her character level.
Light Gravity (Ex): A Syranian Planetouched has a uniquely weak bond to the forces of gravity. Thus, her body is considered to be under the influence of light gravity, giving her a -1 circumstance penalty to attack rolls, balance, ride, swim and tumble checks, and a +2 circumstance bonus to climb and jump checks. For purposes of lifting she weighs only half as much, though her body has normal mass. When falling, she only takes 1d4 damage per 10 ft. (instead of 1d6) to a maximum of 20d6.
LA: +0

This is one version of the idea, I have other, stronger versions with a level adjustment. Though I do not have them ready right now, I think some suitable racial feats should be in order.

Just go with an air genasi.

Oh, but that goes against the whole point.

In any case, the air genasi would not be quite the right fit. Syrania is a strongly good-aligned plane, inhabited by only angels and prismatic golems.

Not to mention, air genasi cannot be applied to different races. I had considered the race route, a la aasimar and tiefling, but I think that the justification in Eberron of such human-centric planetouched is exceptionally weak, so they almost must be templates.

While I think I need to add another ability (and increase the light gravity penalties to the standard -2), I think this was the right approach to take. For once, I want to balance templates so that a 1st level character can take one. You shouldn't have to fall behind in HD to be something cool(er).

I think it's too good as a caster template. Sure, the gravity shtick hurts, and a Con penalty hurts even more...but NO playable races at this point have an unbalanced set of mental scores with NO la.

Remove one of the bonuses, throw in "Native Outsider", give them a spell-like ability once a day, and call it finished.

Just out of curiousity, why? Most of the new races introduced in the ECS *are* "human-decended", including the Kalashtar, which come pretty close to being their own sort of quasi-planetouched. Most of the flavor behind interactions between humans and other races gives *more* credence to the argument that humans are uniquely fluid and adaptable in this particular manner, not less.

In some ways I think planetouched are conceptually more akin to dragonmarked than they are to changelings, shifters and kalashtar.

How about +2 str, -2 con, +2 wis and light gravity?

I do not think having two ability scores with bonuses is too strong when you consider what a massive penalty -2 to attack and four skills is compared to the +2 to two skills.
