| DragoonDarkfire07-18-07, 12:34 PM | I was recently thinking about Hellcows words on Warlocks in Eberron. It got me wondering... Warlocks supposedly channel evil/chaotic forces? Many, if not all, Warlocks are chaotic evil or have some evil component in them. Meaning that most Warlocks in Eberron would claim to channel the forces of Khyber, the dragon below, and as such be adversaries of the Dragon Between/Above. Adversaries such as... the Silver Flame, the Gatekeepers (if they were to channel more the forces of Xoriat) or the... Dragons of Argonessen. Now what I find interesting is that anyone who has Dragon Magic knows. There is a class that is an almost variation of Warlock in there, known as a Dragonfire Adept. Like Warlocks, Dragonfire Adepts use invocations (though there's differ greatly) and both have powerful attacks that deal tremendous damage. For Warlocks it's their Eldritch Blast. For Dragonfire Adepts it's their breath weapons. This makes me realize... what if Dragonfire Adepts were something like Siberys and Eberron's answer to Warlocks? Dragonfire Adepts would, in theory, be called to this power by the Dragons of Argonesses or perhaps Eberron and Syberys themselves and would in turn be the force that fights Warlocks and their dark powers. In this sense you could consider the battle between Siberys and Eberron against Khyber almost a magical arms race. They make Overlords, we make Silver Flame to Imprison them. They make Demons escape flame to terrorize surface, we make paladins to fight them. They make Xoriat come in contact with Eberron and unleash daelkyr, we make Gatekeeper druids. They make Warlocks, we make Dragonfire Adepts. Is this crazy or not cause I'm tired right now and have no idea if what I'm saying makes any sense. |
