| rice83003-24-07, 01:59 AM | ~Ive been playing an Aerenal Elf for over a year now and hes has become quite aquinted with the Undying Court, the only problem is that Deathless Soldiers and other Undying Helpers suck. A lot. The greatest of Elven Mages and Warriors have sunk into the CR 2-3 area. ~Shame... a lot of Shame...Should there be a template instead? A Deathless Soldier, Mage, or Saint Template? ~Ideas and personal opinions welcomed. What im really looking for here is for someone that feels the same way or againts it to argue their points and attempt to justify their opinions. |
| AvonRekaes03-24-07, 04:54 AM | Well first, I think you should clarify. Deathless is a creature type, what you're asking about is Undying, which are specifically Aerenal elven deathless. As a whole, the Undying Court has the power of a god (literally). Perhaps the reduction in individual might is what makes the Court so powerful? It has been said that the Undying Court is greater than the sum of its parts, perhaps that's the reason why. However, I think there is some merit to a templated form of Undying, but it would likely be a completely revolutionary thing. If I had a player that really wanted Undying status for his character, and to continue adventuring afterward, I might come up with a template for him and have it be a Really Big Deal. He would be seen with the same level of awe as say, the avatar of an actual god. He would have all the power of becoming a deathless creature (immortality, immunities, and ostensively some unqiue powers granted by the template) but retain the personal power he had in life. Would probably really work well for a game you intend on taking to epic levels. |

| Cambian0003-25-07, 12:47 AM | Im actually thinking that that's how it was supposed to be.. adding class levels to Deathless character... Thats what we did with a character in a game I played in. The Elf Wizard went Deathless and just added his original class levels to the deathless creature thing.......of course my Silve Flame Paladin didnt like him too much after that - always kept acusing him of being undead (pretty funny in game).. |
| Edymnion03-25-07, 05:40 PM | Keith has said that he basically sees being an Undying as something that you become, meaning that while you have to be high level to get in, over the centuries you lose those levels as you move towards becoming a "true" Undying. But for the record, I use the Necropolitan Template with the flavor changed for Deathless. |

| The Jake03-27-07, 01:58 AM | That's what I would suggest. Just find/replace where it says negative with positive and harm and cure :P |
| rice83004-01-07, 11:00 PM | ~The fact remains that they have different types of deathless/ undying in Aerenal. ~They have the Soldiers, Wizards, Councilors, and High Counilors in the books, so would there be different templates? Ones that bring up mental scores and physical? ~Anyone have any proof as to this being blashemous? Hoipefully not,m im going to work on some templates, post them ,and hopefully get some feedback. |
| Daydreamer04-02-07, 12:24 AM | there are also stronger deathless presented...but they do have advacement rules all of them....advance them a bit. Even by canon the deathless soldiers can advance to 12 hit dice. |
