I'm getting ready to start a new campain and am thinking of playing a class out of the Book of Nine Swords. I havent playd any of these classes yet and was just wondering what everyone's take on these class's in eberron. Anything at this point will help thanks.

First, please encase your signature in a spoiler block or use a lower size. When the signature uses up four times the space of the actual post, something is wrong...

Second, almost every style fits one or more cultures in Eberron. Just think about the "essence" of each and see what race or culture is matching. White Raven, for example, is all about leadership and teamwork - so the White Raven crusaders probably stem from Thrane while the Warblades would rather be trained by Karrnath in Rekkenmark Academy or by the Dhakaani hobgoblins (it might even be the case that Rekkenmark has learned the style from the Dhakaani). If your Google-Fu is strong enough, you might stumble over a few of these associations in this very forum.

During the summer, I may be DM'ing for a friend of mine, and he has expressed interest in the classes from ToB, especially the Warblade.

He wants to be a Dhakaani warrior (probably bugbear, possibly hobgoblin... I can't imagine him being a pure goblin).

Now, it's his choices to make, but while this thread is here I might as well hear what people think he should do.

What manuevers/stances and weapon should he use (Weapon Aptitude means that you simply have to pick between "Simple/Martial" and "Exotic")?

Any tips for us two, neither of us having run a ToB character ourselves (though I've seen a Shifter Warblade in action in an "old" campaign)?

EDIT: We'll be starting at level 4

There is no problem with these classes in Eberron. There are various threads on the implimentation of the disciplines around.

For what its worth there has been at least one officially statted out NPC with ToB features in Eberron.
A Blood of Vol Crusader in Eyes of the Lich Queen, he's not a major character, just an enforcer in an encounter, just a powerful henchmen, but hey he's a Crusader, he's got the maneuvers and everything. That was a heck of a run on sentance... anyway

Suposedly months ago when ToB was still fresh Keith wrote a Eberron Expanded article on it which should have appeared on the website.... it never showed up. Keith inquired, apearantly somewhere along the line this article had gotten lost at WotC... so he re-submitted it. Still stuff hasn't shown up. Now the story is WotC is sitting on a number of Keith's Articles because they want their weekly release content to be consistantly released, so untill there is a sufficient backlog that they can be sure to release it weekly they wont release any.

Or something like that.

ANYWAY some links to threads on this topic.

There are others talking about more specific topics, Disciplines and the Goblins, the Jade Pheonix Mages.... but that should get you started.

And yes... you will read people repeating themselves across several of those threads.

Just FYI, the Eternal Blade PrC in the ToB:BoNS would be absolutely awesome for a Valenar Elf PC. Just seems like they designed it specifically for a Valenar. Heck, Aernal would work great too.
