Ok, the weretouched masters 5th lvl ability alternate form is not the same as shifting right. So no benefits from your shifter feats or traits. What about the abilities gained from weretouched I and II? What is the duration of this alternate form ability? The eratta does not specify when it ends and just says you can revert back when you want. So unlimited duration? This class would be cool if it made sense or had some synergy with anything that was used in getting to it.

Those abilities kick in when you shift.

I hope i can help here, as far is I can tell from what I read, the alternate form takes the place of your shifting ability. The uses per day are exactly what your shifting would be, and instead of shifting, as other shifters, you assume your alternate form.
I have been lobbying with my dm for a feat or something so my shifter Merylistra (Rog 2/ Rng 8/ WM 5) could assume her tiger form for more than a minute, since a minute/ minute and a half is all her shifting really allows for.

So yeah, she shifts 3 times a day for around a minute each time.

unless I read it wrong... in which case i already had that ability... But i think it is governed under shifting duration. If i remember right, it states that instead of applying your shifter bonuses, apply the alt. form bonuses (it has a table) instead.

The Weretouched Master underwent errata, which can be found here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/er/20040125a).

Thanks for that,
Now, am I to assume that the hybrid form is gone then, and the Full animal form is the same duration as normal shifting?
I think a longer duration would be preferable, due to the limitations of being in an animal form. It would make travel easier though.

Unless you houserule it just pretend the animal form doesn't exist ... using it essentially never makes sense.

Well, it's a pretty good disguise, and sometimes can get places the human form can't go... but yeah, it's not real useful.

i am gonna keep begging my DM to let it be like a travel form.

but yeah, did they get rid of the hybrid form?

The errata completely destroyed the prestige class in my opinion, and my DM's ;)

What we worked out was to leave it the way it used to be (hybrid and animal forms), but knocked the hybrid bonuses down by about 1/2 and made the animal form last 1 hour per normal round of shifting.

Under the new errata, they did away with the Hybrid form completely. My DM's standpoint was, what is the point in a class that is based off of becoming more like the lycanthropic ancestors, but they don't have a hybrid form

I agree that the errata really destroyed the weretouched master. Weird thing is I feel like the errata has changed several times. Was this the way they changed weretouched master when the errata first came out?

Oh, I think the errata tried fairly well to balance out the different phenotypes of werebeast... with incomplete success, as tiger is still the way to go.

As for "hybrid form", you can kinda get there anyway if you take the right shifter feats -- you just don't get the size mod.

Well, just for grins, here is what our group came up with. We decided to use the original rules with our own modifications, ignoring any of the errata on the class....

Animal form works the same as the original design in the Eberron Campaign Setting. You cannot benefit from any of your feats that normally apply when shifting. Changing into animal form has a duration of 1 hour for every round of normal shifting. Armor, weapons, and other items are absorbed into the new form but cease to function.

Hybrid form is where the changes really needed to be made. The following stats replace the stat bonus for the 1st level Weretouched Master ability. However, they would stack with the character's orginal stat modifier from 1st level (Beasthide = +2 Con, Longtooth = +2 STR, etc.). I just made these modifications to try to balance the adjustments out (or closer to it) and keep it a little more balanced.

Stats
Animal Ability Adjustments (Hybrid)
Bear* STR +8, CON +4
Boar STR +4, CON +8
Rat DEX +8, CON +4
Tiger* STR +6, DEX +2, CON +4
Wolf STR +2, DEX +6, CON +4
Wolverine STR +4, DEX +2, CON +6
*Size increase from Medium to Large (-1 AC, -1 attacks, +1 size increase for natural weapons)

The hybrid form is what you now take when you use your shifter ability. Even if you want, you can't gain just the normal benefits. In otherwords, anytime you shift you will become large, even if you are in a confined area.

All your normal shifter abilities function with the new hybrid form. The only restriction would be that the Braids of Dire Shifting would not (simply to restrict the obscene amount of claw and bite damage that would result).
