09-16-07, 07:39 PM Does anyone have a clue as to what class besides monk Teron was. I want to make a monk based off him. I'm thinking hes got a few lvls in sorcs. Any help would be appreciated.

09-16-07, 08:21 PM I'm working off memory, but this is the book "Orb of Xoriat", correct? The monk has a cat that follows him around (cough cough) and the other main character is a gnome with the half-orc butler.

If this is the one, then yes, monk with a few levels of sorcerer. The thing he uses when fighting the elementals is the feat Arcane Strike (I'm fairly sure thats the name). Allows you to trade in spells/day for extra damage on attacks.

I would give him at most 2 levels of sorcerer, with the rest being hardcore monk.

09-16-07, 09:14 PM I was pretty sure Teron had some levels in Enlightened Fist (from CA) in addition to a level or so of Sorc. Otherwise all Monk.

09-17-07, 02:02 AM It's been awhile, but over at the worldsofdnd forums (http://worldsofdnd.com/forum/index.php), they asked a similar question, Edward Bolme answered saying that Teron was an "Arcane Monk". Which was supposed to be a class included in the setting, but was cut.

Bummer i hope they think about adding it in a supplement but with 4e coming i'm not getting my hopes up.

09-22-07, 03:54 PM Meh. My guess would be Monk with Arcane Strike as well.

Also, Orb of Xoriat was only so-so. The best book in the War-Torn series was Claws of the Tiger, which is why i'm utterly stoked that Wyatt wrote another book.

Anyways, I'd build Teron as Sorcerer 1/Monk 12 (so he has the 'abundant step' ability and his fighting skills don't suck). Praxle's obviously a Sorcerer, but thematically he'd be better statted out as a Beguiler. And Jeffers (one of my favorite characters in that book :weep: ) would probably be Fighter 5 or so.

I've never read the book, but I've read enough D&D books to know that, aside from the paladin, titles used by characters aren't always the same as the official classes. A "warrior" could be a Fighter, Ranger, Barbarian, or even an actual Warrior.
