| BraulioB07-30-07, 06:29 PM | I am a DM and I want to send a Rust Monster against my PCs. One of them is a warforged fighter with a metal hammer. What happens if a rust monster successfully attacks a warforged. Is his only alternative to run? B |
| Rerecros07-30-07, 06:42 PM | It's his own fault if he neglects to carry a bow and arrow. Also he can use an improvised club (can be thrown) or great club. If he's smart enough to do this, I would let him dump his pack and use it to cover the metal of his hammer, the bludgeoning damage would still apply and no metal will actually contact the little bugger. |

The creature takes 2d6 points of damage from the spell (Reflex half save DC 14 + caster ability mod.) A warforged takes the same damage from a rust monster's touch (Reflex DC 17 half).... Hope this helps. Enjoy the game! |

| Rerecros07-30-07, 07:49 PM | That's why I had my sword gold plated. Why!? Gold plating does nothing to protect it from a rust monster's grasp. It prefers ferrous metals (steel or iron) over precious metals (such as gold or silver) but will devour the latter if given the opportunity. |

| madninjapimp07-31-07, 12:48 PM | I recently started a game as a warforged beguiler, without even thinking the DM had a rust moster guarding a house we were breaking into, I ran like a little girl... Everyone laughed at me until I pulled up the WF stats page. Any warforged that makes his knowledge dungeoneering check should oil his pants if he see's a rust monster! |
| Edymnion07-31-07, 01:05 PM | That's why I had my sword gold plated.Yeah, why? The rust monster's rusting ability is a special ability. Normal real world corrosion rules do not apply. The WF can rust steel, copper, gold, mithril, any metal in existance. Its magic. |
| TiwazTyrsfist07-31-07, 03:16 PM | I didn't post that, a wizard did it! Oh wait... No, it was primarily a joke. You need to be able to hear my tone of voice from my typing. Stupid limitations of written word. |
