06-19-07, 05:48 PM I am creating a warforged character an I need some advise please. The character's race is the warforged charger and I am wanting to add the Psiforge body feat to it. The question is will I lose the Adamantine Body Feat or can I get the full benefits from both?

06-19-07, 06:43 PM Both psiforgedbody and adamantite body are feats that must be taken at first level. Therefore you cannot take both.

As a point to consider - warforged don't need the psiforged body to be psionic characters. Psiforged body offers bonus power points and a few other nifty bonuses good for a psionc.

In my opinion if you're going psion (or really feel like playing wilder with a cha penalty) take the psi body. If you're going for psi-warrior, divine mind or argent, go with adamantine body.

The character is going to be a gestalt character with the classes being Fighter and Psychic Warrior.

06-20-07, 01:28 PM you can only have one, in gestalt campains you still get only one feat at the first level and the fighter feat won't do.

Ultimately, it's - of course - the DM's decision. But a Warforged "body" feat is 1st level only because... that's the type of body you were build with. Nothing changes that. It's not an issue of an extra feat... it's the issue of those feats not stacking.

You have an Adamantine Body, or a Darkwood Body, or Mithral, or... Crystals...

Just as a warforged couldn't have an Adamantine Darkwood body... they can't have Psiforged Adamantine. And I think, for Game Balance, this makes sense!

In a Gestalt Campaign.........?? I guess it's supposed to be overpowered. I say it's the DM's call.

That does make sense and honestly is how it probably was intended to work before someone tried to do otherwise. I agree that you should pick one or the other.

06-20-07, 05:43 PM I have noticed that in one of the psiforge examples in the Magic of Eberron that the character was called a psiforged, had the psiforged body feat, and had mithril body feat listed in the feat section. This is the reasoning behind my question. Can I have both the adamantine Body feat and the Psiforged Body feat together and get both benefits. The example does not list under the feat section the Psiforge Body feat, but the race is a psiforge. As to how I get the two feats legelly, is not an issue, the benefits are. I can appreciate some of your statements and advise, but I can legelly get Psiforge Body feat, while I automatically get Adamantine Body feat. There is nothing saying I can not have Psiforge Body feat and Adamantine Boby feat. I already knew that I could not have mithril body and adamantine body, its like having a suit of armor made from mithril and adamantine metals. Its just not done, but under the psiforge racial traits it describes the character having crystals growing inside of it's body.

In truth, psiforged are simply warforged who have taken the Psiforged Body feat (see page 51) at 1st level. The crystals that grow in their bodies as a result of taking this feat help the psiforged focus the psionic energy that courses through all living creatures.

06-20-07, 06:00 PM The sample characters in Magic of Eberron are notorious oversights. The popular theory is they were written when "Psi-forged" was a subrace, rather than a feat, and the mistake was missed in editing.

For simplicity thinik of it like wearing Mithril Chain under Full plate, there's no stacking rules for it, its just the ac of full plate and that's it, even though you can't wear both by RAW.

And they must be taken at first level. However, since the warforged race is so diversified and since they can be upgraded, your GM could make a ruling that if you spent a feat at first level for Adamantine body, and later you wanted to switch to Psiforged plating, your GM could say by spending another feat and by finding somebody like an Artificer with Craft Construct and an appropriate craft skill along with an adiquet gold piece spent could change plating. Its kind of against the rules but since warforged can be upgraded to many degrees I don't see where a GM would have a problem with that. But I'll let you know first hand that I'm a GM and I allow my Players to do this but they must spend the feat, so the feat spent at first level is wasted and to do that kind of alteration on a character is very expensive and time consuming.

You'll keep both. And yes, you can have both. Warforged chargers get Adamantine Body as a bonus feat, so all you need to do is take Psiforged Body as your 1st-level feat (or 1st-HD feat, whatever).

06-21-07, 08:11 AM I've never had a problem with a warforged having both assuming that they can actually have both feats at that level. Since they are investing a lot for comparatively little I don't really see much of an issue with it myself.

This will also help when I get to be in the DM's chair at my local D&D group. I am the only player interested in Eberron, and I hope to introduce it to the other players. Since this issue may come up in that campaign I will now be better equiped to handle the issue. And thanks again for all of the advise!
