| dposcuro05-26-07, 09:11 PM | Probably have been answered before, or brought up (I searched all 6 pages that I can see, and found nothing related). But I have a question to propose: Warforged Sorceror/Dragon Disciple? No, I am not personally making it, or even attempting to. But is it at all possible? By rules it appears as such: DD class: "Any non-dragon" As well, the Half-Dragon template lists any living, corporeal creature. But when you factor in the flavour that Dragon Disciples tap into the draconic power in their blood and draw it out.... Leaves me wondering if/how a Dragon Disciple Warforged could exist...And if it can: What the hell would it look like as a half-dragon? |
| Beefypistolsnipe05-26-07, 09:24 PM | Leaves me wondering if/how a Dragon Disciple Warforged could exist...And if it can: What the hell would it look like as a half-dragon? I'll tell you what it looks like...like a total BADASS! Seriously, though, to explain how a warforged might be a dragon desciple: maybe it has had a heavy exposure to draconic magic (like close proximity to a powerful dragon of a certain color) and the heavy dose of magic aura begins to affect his system (like radiation poisoning but with magic). How 'bout that? |
| Edymnion05-26-07, 11:16 PM | By the RAW, yes, its perfectly legal. Remember that class/prc fluff is just that, fluff. The whole "blood of dragons" is meaningless. If the PrC actually required you to have a draconic ancestor, it would have "Descended from a dragon" in the prereqs. As for what it would look like, well thats pretty easy. It would look like a warforged half dragon, just like a normal warforged looks like a warforged human. |
| gensuke62605-27-07, 04:17 PM | Hehehe...Clock-work, dragon-winged, fighting automaton. That sounds fun. and if you want to stay in the fluff as far as dragons blood goes... Dragonshards? |
| gelalshawr05-27-07, 04:23 PM | Or perhaps some draconic materials were added to the mix in the creation forge when they made you |
| Edymnion05-27-07, 06:47 PM | Although, you should run this by your DM first. I know, for example, that I don't allow the Dragon Disciple PrC for anyone but the Serene Barbarians, the rest of Eberron simply doesn't have access to it. Just like I restrict Arcane Archers to the Valenar. Just because it is technically rules legal doesn't mean your DM will actually let you do it. |
| slimenstrakhazmodan05-28-07, 02:01 AM | Here is a random background thought. A Dragon with levels in Druid while in tree form was damaged or dropped acorns that were used in the root and vine like tendrils that make up the warforged"muscle like"tissue. Just a thought. Weirder stuff has happened. |
| Cifer05-28-07, 05:18 AM | Just like I restrict Arcane Archers to the Valenar. Why the Valenar? Horse-archery is fine, but I haven't heard that they emphasize it very much (except if their ancestor was a great archer). The only guys I know to have a special connection to the bow seem to be the Silver Flame worshippers. |

The only guys I know to have a special connection to the bow seem to be the Silver Flame worshippers.Because the Silver Flame doesn't have any emphasis on arcane magic or elves. If I needed to give them an archery PrC, it would probably be something more along the lines of Order of the Bow Initiate. Given the flavor of the Arcane Archer, that is is elves only, combat oriented, and uses magic to shore up physical combat, the only group that really fits the bill IMO are the Valenar. They are the most combat oriented elves, they are the more "racially proud" of the elves, and they just seem to be the best fit. |

Warforged aren't clockwork. I have to admit I kind of hoped this thread would be about warforged turning into lightning coaches and airships. |

I have to admit I kind of hoped this thread would be about warforged turning into lightning coaches and airships. 5 experimental warforged juggernaught's have the ability to combine into Devastator the scourge of Cyre:P Merge For The Kill (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ih_4DEMAGoQ) The warforged Bulwark and Aaren d'Cannith combine into the Lord of Blades Fusion Dance anyone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zce2lnUyIb4&mode=related&search=):P Cannith 's unused warforged :P (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1UG5dYqrdw&mode=related&search=) |

| DragonBringerX06-01-07, 10:54 PM | aiming at the OP here...I always invisioned a half-dragon template applied to a construct as simply being built this way. My fluff is it has no "blood"...just maybe some draconic magic. |
| Mort_Q06-01-07, 11:23 PM | The organic material of the warforged is dragon bone, not wood... S/he's a new 'forged... created after the war... Invent a dragonscale armour bodytype feat to go with it and maybe a PrC that will let it get wings... and firebreath. |
| TiwazTyrsfist06-18-07, 07:10 PM | My opinion? When the wings manifest (I forget what level) this is manifested by the live-wood tendril that make up most of the interior body suddenly growing out the back of the armor plate, forming wings. Wings that look like the wing a dragon with the wood-elemental creature template (ManOfPlanes IIRC) would have. Further appearance modifications would be the results of further growth of the livewood warping the shape of the warforged. As for the blood of the dragon? Well, obviously this warforged was the result of one of Merrix d'Cannith's (or some other like minded individual) experiments. Most likely, he got hold of a sample of dragon blood, and added it to the other base materials in the creation forge while making this particular warforged. Thence the origins of his sorcerous powers. I also like Mort's idea. |
| ArcTan06-28-07, 12:26 AM | Hehehe...Clock-work, dragon-winged, fighting automaton. That sounds fun. and if you want to stay in the fluff as far as dragons blood goes... Dragonshards? Warforged don't have clockwork in them, but whatever. I don't actually like a physical explanation for "dragonblooded" Warforged Bards and Sorcerers. Hell, I don't really like a physical explanation for Human Bards and Sorcerers. The important thing, to me, about spontaneous arcane casting is that it's a mark on the *soul*, not the body. Humans may have sorcerous powers simply because they're touched by the Prophecy, which means their souls are in some way linked to Dragonkind even if they aren't the product of some random Red Dragon paintin' the town red three thousand years ago. There's no reason Warforged couldn't be randomly "touched" in the same way. |
| DrStalker06-28-07, 06:21 AM | As a one-off (i.e.: PC or unique NPC) I see no problem in having a warforged built with an experimental process that involved dragon parts in some way. People try all sorts of crazy things in war to get an edge, and attempts to produce a line of arcane-using warforged sound perfectly reasonable. There are probably plenty of experiments around that didn't work out, but didn't fail badly enough to destroy. "Fifty thousand gold in dragons blood and we got is red-tinted armor plates? Might as well sell him with the rest to recover a few thousand of that investment." |
