As I couldn't find info about this subject, i'd like to know if a Warforged, with Improved Fortification feat, is immune to negative energy damage (chill touch, enervation, energy drain ...).

As the feat states: The character can not be healed by Conj (healing) spells.

This kind of spell uses positive energy, so is it licit to conclude that a warforged character, with this feat, is equally affected by positive/negative energy as a typical golem?

Thanks

The feat states quite clearly what happens: The warforged is immune to Conjuration (healing) spells. Tell me when you see the first negative energy spell of that school...

If you want immunity from negative energy, become a Juggernaught or get a deathward.

I never said that Conj (healing) school uses negative energy, however, it is the opposite of it (positive energy).

As long as we assume that living beings are affected normally by these energies (positive and negative), and the Warforged is not affected by one of these energies, so, the WF is not a complete living being by itself.

When we apply the Improved Fortification feat, this condition of "living being" is degraded again (first it was 50% effective, now it isn't effective at all, related to Conj (healing) school).

So,my question is: A WF with Improved Fortification feat can be harmed by negative energies, like any other living being?

Thanks for your reply, Cifer

I'm not aware of any rule to the contrary, so that would suggest that they are indeed affected by negative energy. Why try to read something into the rules that isn't there?

Strictly by the RAW, warforged are immune to positive energy/conjuration (healing) while still being affected by negative energy/necromancy. The trick to exploiting this RAW idiocy is to take the Tomb Tainted Soul feat from Libris Mortis, which allows you to be healed by negative energy as if you were undead. Since those spells are necromancy and not conjuration (healing), warforged get the full healing benefit (not halved) of inflict spells while ALSO being completely immune to all conjuration (healing) positive energy effects, which would now harm you.

Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it RAW? Yes. Should your DM just let Improved Fortification extend to negative energy? Yes.

Addendum: Should your DM just let Improved Fortification extend to negative energy if you take Tomb Tainted Soul? Yes.

Clarification: Your DM shouldn't just give you free immunity to negative energy along with the already nifty bonus of being immune to critical hits.
