Warforged don't gots blood, how do they make homunculi that require caster's blood? I've already tried searching for the answer as I assume it must have come up before but I can't find it on the boards. Can anyone provide a link or an answer? Official, if there is one...

Thanks.

I thought they did have something akin to blood, a fluid that courses throughout their bodies.

Yes, there is a Dragonshard article about it on the wizards.com eberron site.

Yeah, I skimmed both parts before I posted that, no dice.

In the last Eberron novel I read it descripted the warforged leaking a dark warm liquid when wounded deeply, sound like the warforged got something in their they can use for thier Homunculus.

Some suggestions:

- Since it doesn't have any mechanical effects, skip it and say it has something to do with "Construct affinity" or something.
- Use some of the alchemical fluids within warforged. (The stuff that lets them use potions.)
- Make them cut off some of their livewood muscle and dissolve it in an acid to form a compound which serves the purpose.
- Livewood sap?
- If the construct uses materials the warforged is made of (Like, say metal for an iron defender or wood for a packmate) have them use some of their own body as material.

Steel of my steel, eh? Aww, warforged become parents at last!

There is supposed to be some alchemical substance that courses through the portions of their bodies that look like musculature (ie. the parts made of livewood) to keep the fibers pliable.

I wonder if a warforged can gargle some 40 weight penzoil equivalent (yeah probably spelled that wrong) and use that instead?

Yeah, I skimmed both parts before I posted that, no dice.Welp, then it falls back on the WF Rule of Thumb:
"Unless specifically stated otherwise, WF are just like every other race."

And it's complementary test:
"Replace the word 'Warforged' with 'Human' and ask the question again, the answer will be the same."

So, "Can a Warforged make homunculi?"
There is nothing in the WF racial entry that specifically says they cannot, so, we move on to replacing words.

"Can a Human make homunculi?"
The answer is yes, so so can a Warforged.

Or, you could ask "Does a Warforged have blood?"
Nowhere says they don't, so you ask "Does a human have blood?"
Yes, they do, so the answer is the same for the WF. No matter how counter-intuitive it might seen, a WF must have some sort of fluid in their body that serves the same general purpose as blood. This is backed up by the fact that they are not immune to ability damage, and hence are vulnrable to things like Stirges.

Well, it's not quite as counterintuitive when you think about the fact that the 'forged have a core of living wood fibers, which are not exactly known for their bone-dryness.

For example, nowhere does it say that a Warforged is immune to environmental effects, so in cold regions your Warforged still needs heavy winter clothing to keep from freezing to death.

A vampire can use it's Blood Drain(Ex) ability on a WF, when I think of ability damage, this is the first attack that comes to mind, therefor, since a vampire can drain a WF's blood, we must assume that he has it, or an liquid equivalant to.

As per the rules of RoE, technically, the WF Artificer cannot make a homunculus. Instead, they can make a weapon familiar. Personally, I feel that most of the ideas here better rectify the problem that was made. A warforged artificer would know enough about its own structure in order to determine how to create a homunculus. It takes years to learn how to become an artificer and that training would include some section on the warforged.

This assumes you have to take the racial replacement levels. Even if you do the 'forged can still take Craft Construct and make Homunculi.

Well I dont know what kind of stuff they use for their homunculi if they don't have blood... but they have homonculis.

Look the Lord of Blades, he has 2.

I think if you look at the spirit of the ability, you can pretty much go from there.

a Human must use 1 pint of bood, indicating a "peice of himself". this would be blood, linking the creation by blood, thusly, if you take it to the fact that the point is to make yourself a homunculus, you're in fact making one from from a part of yourself...

there's nothing to say, that a warforged can't take "something" from itself, and use it in the construction of a homunculus, thereby satisfying the requirement.

Basically, just assume Endy is right, heh, and you'll be fine.
