Since Star Wars ideas were tossed around in the Magebred Humans thread, I was wondering if anything had been done in the way of "Warforged Commandos". Would they be built differently (five fingers, stockier build, unique markings, etc)? What kind of specialist training would they have (In ways of weapons, tactics, infiltration, subterfuge and whatnot)?

Why on earth would they have more fingers?

I figure they might have more fingers to better manipulate fine or delicate objects. Stuff that three fingers wouldn't be suited to handling.

If their three fingered hands were a problem with manipulating fine objects and it needed to be acknowledged as a problem, it would have. I dont think there is a reason they need to have more than three fingers.

Obviously, Warforged would go commando.

It's not like they're anatomically correct.

Wait. What was the question?

Stuff that three fingers wouldn't be suited to handling.Warforged are able to manipulate fine or delicate objects just as well as any human can, or it would have been mentioned in their racial entry as a penalty to craft checks.

That said, humans don't actually use their ring and pinky fingers for much more than a bit of extra grip. All of the precise work is done with the thumb and index finger, with the middle finger when more force is required.

As is, there are no WF penalties to craft (so they aren't clumsy), and there are no WF penalties to preform when using an instrument (so they can play a lute or flute just as easily as anyone else).

I'd say though, they would have a hell of a time playing a mandolin. I play the viola, and you need all of your fingers. I don't think the mandolin is too different.

Well, there are specialist warforged: the warforged scout and the warforged charger. Scouts are small and dextrous, designed to be rogues. Chargers are large, designed to charge enemy fortifications and smash them to bits. They're in MM3, if you care to know.

I could see a commando group made up of a mix of warforged, scouts and chargers, maybe as a squad of 6: a scout rogue and scout ranger, a charger fighter or barbarian, a warforged fighter, warforged artificer and warforged wizard. Gear and whatnot would depend on level and importance.

I play a warforged commando that has unique hull markings. I gave hit a matte finished camouflaged exterior for his adamantium feat. It is a flavour thing that gets a bunch of circumstance modifiers for it like plus to hide and intimidate and penalties to diplomacy and ettiqutte stuff. Since he is a barbarian its no big thing to roleplay it well.

I play him in a play by post that you check out to see the flavour he gets in this role, my favorite character ever, wish I could play him in a face to face game.

His name is IED, after the bombs.

Ugh.

I have to say, though, I have wanted to play a 'forged commando, but I figure it'd prolly be Ranger or Scout (with eventual levels in Dread Commando, maybe, or maybe rogue), but with mithril body and fluidity (and essence of the scout). Hmm. Pierce from the DD series?
