| Illithid0011-22-07, 09:27 PM | I know that healing spells only heal half damage to warforged, but what about inflict spells? Do they only deal half damage, or is it full damage? I'm inclined to believe that the inflict spells deal half damage, but I couldn't find anything in Races of Eberron that addresses this topic. |
| Nived11-22-07, 09:40 PM | Warforged only recieve half the benifit from Conjuration (Healing) spells. Inflict spells are Necromancy. Therefore full damage. |
| Illithid0011-22-07, 09:55 PM | OK, so if the cure spells in my world are necromancy, would that mean that the inflict spells would also only deal half damage? |
| Nived11-22-07, 10:17 PM | Well that's a house rule and that's up to you. By the rules Warforged As living constructs, warforged can be affected by spells that target living creatures as well as those that target constructs. Damage dealt to a warforged can be healed by a cure light wounds spell or a repair light damage spell, for example, and a warforged is vulnerable to disable construct as well as harm. However, spells from the healing subschool and supernatural abilities that cure hit point damage or ability damage provide only half their normal effect to a warforged. The intention is that the Cure line of spells, Heal, Mass Heal, Regeneration, Restoration (and varients), Ressurrection only apply half their benifit in hit point and ability effects. Inflict spells are by core completely different. If you want them to only half effect warforged that would be your choice. However note that harm is explicitly stated as effecting warforged normally. |

Now your 'forged can be healed by the evil priests. ;) Or you can heal in the Mournland! What? WHAT? WHy are you looking at me like that? |
| Kreistor211-23-07, 12:44 AM | OK, so if the cure spells in my world are necromancy, would that mean that the inflict spells would also only deal half damage? No, they would receive full healing from those spells. Warforged do receive full healing from Vampiric Touch, for instance. You'd have to rewrite the text to say "half effect from Necromancy spells that heal HP damage or cause HP damage." Or something like that. |
| deathbane11-23-07, 08:44 AM | OK, so if the cure spells in my world are necromancy, would that mean that the inflict spells would also only deal half damage? According to the rules inflict deals full damage, but I house rule that since they only get half healing, then they only take half damage from negative energy. |
| larry_the_titan11-23-07, 11:04 AM | According to the rules inflict deals full damage, but I house rule that since they only get half healing, then they only take half damage from negative energy. But then that nerfs the Tomb Tainted soul and Improved Fortification feat combo. |
| Salla11-23-07, 08:55 PM | OK, so if the cure spells in my world are necromancy, would that mean that the inflict spells would also only deal half damage? I make Cure spells Necromancy in my games, too; I just change every reference to Conjuration (Healing) to Necromancy (Healing), so the WF is still only getting half-healed, but suffers full Inflicting. If the spell didn't have Healing as a subschool before, it doesn't gain it, so works as it always did. |
| deathbane11-24-07, 03:11 AM | But then that nerfs the Tomb Tainted soul and Improved Fortification feat combo. Just allow the WF to get the full benefits of negative energy, and take damage for positive energy for TTS, however I don't see how it affects improved fort. |
