AlexiDrake 10-22-07, 07:35 PM	I have and idea.... My idea is crossing Warhammer 40k with Eberron. Example: Thousand Sons are warriors for Andair that use either a combination of Wizard /Warmage /Sorcerer with some sort of combat class. They would use their magics to help secure the borders of the nation, and that there are never more than a thousand at a time. Blood of Vol crossed with the Black Legion / Son of Horus. This idea would create the Sons of Vol as a legion of death cultis even more fanatical than the Emerald Claw. Space Wolves.... How a bout a goup of shifters that protect the natural world. Any ideas?
LoneStranger 10-22-07, 07:40 PM	May I ask why you're doing this? It could help give people ideas on how to help convert things. Although when I saw this I started thinking of Warforged as Necrons and House Cannith as part of the Tau.

I do want to use the idea that each of the legions has some sort of specialized focus that gives the idea of what they can do. Iron Warriors --- House Cannith Seige Troops and Mercinaries Wolf Brothers --- Shifters that defend the natural world Thousand Sons --- 1000 sons of Andair that defend that nation with their magics Word Bearers --- Devout priests of the Silver Flame Sons of Vol --- Terror troops of Vol that put the Emerald Claw to shame or a secret order that knows the truth but still want power Blood Angels --- An oders of monks / paladins that had members became various typys of undead but still defend Karnath. Does this help?

The central background of Warhammer 40,000 is a fanatical, religion-obsessed theocracy which suppresses all "magic" (psykers) to the extent that it is able and has held society in a stagnant or gradually deteriorating feudal-sacerdotal state for about 10,000 years while attempting to eradicate all mutants and aliens and defeat the forces of Chaos using science fiction technology. This is... well, if not the opposite of Eberron, pretty close to the opposite. Eberron is a world where magic is commonly accepted, society is in a constant state of flux and innovation, members different races interact violently or peacefully with each other for their own personal reasons, different religions flourish in uneasy coexistence, and society's technological base is at the high medieval level (although magic sometimes gives the illusion of more advanced technology than this, it really isn't). I mean, what would you do to put space marines in Eberron? Well, you take away their advanced technology, obviously, along with their genetic enhancements and spare organs. You take away their religious belief in the Emperor or in the Chaos Gods, and replace it with some sort of Eberronian faith in their nation, or in the Blood of Vol, or the like. You probably take away at least some of their extreme brutality, since the "better to kill a million innocents than let one traitor go unpunished" type mentality doesn't really fit anywhere in Eberron -- at least among groups who aspire to be more than despised outlaws. (I think that early in the Last War, Karrnath "cleansed" itself of the Church of the Silver Flame because of their opposition to necromancy and such, with some state-backed pograms against the Purified, but I see that as violence on the level of the breakup of the former Yugoslavia, not on, say, the level of Pol Pot's Cambodia as is routine in the Imperium.) In short, you have legions of "space marines" without any of the defining features that make them space marines -- except maybe a name. At least, that's my take. I don't see how it would work. If I've made some kind of mistake, though, please tell me.

AlexiDrake 01-20-08, 02:26 PM	Well the evil bugs of doom can always be used as some sort of.... 1. Aberation that has escaped from a mad scientist lab. 2. Monsters from the far off land of Xen'drik. 3. Something summoned form the Far Realm. 4. Creatures that where banished by the Elves and or Dragons when they where created as living war machines. 5. Something that has alwys existied in the Demon Wastes.
