I love quori but its just so hard to get them to the eberron and to justify their presence. After a while the players might get bored with eldrich machines that sever the fabric of eberron and the like. So how do I get a quori to eberron so that they can fight the PCs in person?

Well you could always stick an Iron Flask with your favorite Quori trapped inside into the next treasure pool your PCs find. Perhaps it, and several like it, were held in an ancient giant research facility that the PCs could stumble upon. If found in ancient giant ruins and you don't wish to see the players end up with a hefty supply of iron flasks you could always have the PCs enter a sealed room and watch in horror as a dozen iron flasks crumble to rust dust and release a small horde of quori. Just a quick non-eldrich solution, I'll ponder and see if more bubble up.

IIRC, they can manifest in the wild zones of Sarlona - they just can't leave the confines of the zone.

Beyond that, bear in mind that there's another option - taking the players to the quori. Anyone who sleeps dreams. Anyone who dreams goes to Dal Quor to do it. And while on Dal Quor, they could be targeted by quori. The article "Living Nightmares" in Dragon #324 gives a brief overview of running adventures in dreams; I also did more extensive work on the subject in the book Occult Lore by Atlas Games, though it's not Eberron-specific.

Heh, and don't forget the quori that gets off on causing shear terror in it's victims by hunting them down in their dreams under the guise of a horribly burned humanoid, that has Weapon Focus (Bladed Guantlet). ;)

That one took me a few seconds to get, but now I need to go beat my brain unconcious.

Well done, Edy.:banghead:

They can't get to Eberron now. But what about in the past? They invaded Xen'drik. What if a few got trapped by powerful giant magic before Dal Quor was sent away?

I'm planning on playing with this concept in a future adventure arc. While I believe that the magic used to sunder Dal Quor also banished any quori manifesting on Eberron, I also believe that for every rule there should be an exception.

My idea involves these ancient quori being incredibly powerful: powerful enough to have shielded themselves from the epic magic the giants used to banish the others. But they are now very weak, starved from the lack of fresh nightmares to feed upon. The dreams of giants bred for the purpose over thousands of years provide only stagnant fear now, and they are quickly driven insane. The psionic wards won't allow the essence of dreams to enter the sanctuary, or leave, trapping the weakened ancient ones inside. Eventually, someone will stumble across them. The Inspired will be pleased to take advantage of these relics of the last age. But should they get loose, and regain their strength...the terrors that plagued the giants will come to visit humankind.

What makes you so certain they were terrors? Dal-Quor is believed to be on a dual cycle of dreams and nightmares. The kalashtar believe this, and so does the Dreaming Dark (or else they wouldn't care about the kalashtar at all, who continually pray and meditate for the turn of the age).

The current age of Dal Quor is one of darkness and terror, so it stands to reason the previous age was light and peace. Why, then, did the Dream-Quori invade the Giant empire? Maybe they knew the turn of the age was coming and sought refuge only to be refused by the Giants. Maybe the Giants were debasing themselves with blood sacrifice and tainted dragon magic so much that they even dreamed of their despicable acts every night. Perhaps they were causing the turn of the age.

So if you're planning on using ancient giant ruins as a vector to quori encounters, lets get a bit more creative. Perhaps after loosing their connection to their home plane, being experimented on with foul magic, and possibly coming into contact with the corrupting influence of Khyber, these epic-level dream beings went insane. They continue to believe they are beings of utter purity and goodness (and probably still possess the good subtype) but are in fact deluded and deranged.

True. I was aware of the turning of the age, and have made use of "good quori" in the past. I didn't bring it up because the OP was seeking ways to use evil quori in his campaign.

In the case of what I am doing, you are correct. The corruption of the giants was the leading cause of the last turning of the age, and the quori of old wanted to stop them and their corrupt nightmares. But they failed. The quori of my adventure fared no better. Their source of dream energy (captured giants) produced a smaller but no less tainted food supply. As time went on and they were forced to breed giants for no purpose other than to provide mental energy, things only became worse. The only stimulation the new generation of giants had was the nightmarish mini-Dal Quor the quori created, leading to some seriously deranged dreamscapes. The quori have been corrupted just as their counterparts in the real Dal Quor have been, and suffer the traits common to beings who have long been imprisoned in a hell of their own making.

The major difference is that these quori exist physically on Eberron. When the PCs breach the wards (as PCs always manage to do) they'll have to deal with quori who are quite real. The quori still won't be able to leave the sanctuary yet, but they'll have a great time feasting on the fears of the PCs. I plan on role-playing some dream-adventures where truly terrible and unfair things happen to the character, literally their worst nightmare. Things that would ruin a game if a DM did them. Then the quori would tire of them and let them go, only to realize none of it had been real.

The ancient quori would leave back-doors into their minds, giving them limited ability to reach out into the rest of the world through them. Ultimately, the quori would contact the Inspired, who would seek to find and release them.

And so on.

There is no evidence of this, and even if the realm did follow the alignments, this is D&D, shouldn't they go through a Neutral stage first?

The kalashtar pray for the turning of the age simply to banish the current Dreaming Dark. They don't know that a bright and shining age of good is next, they hope so, but they're just going for defeat of the current regime and hoping the next one is better.

There's no proof of any kind (or even stories, even) that the previous age of the quori was all good and happy, nor is there any proof that the next age will be either.

Far as I can tell, thats just a theory that cropped up on the boards here, completely independently of the books, that just never went away.

Just because Dal Quor is distant to Eberron doesn't mean that it can't interact with the other planes. You could have your players fighting it out with them in Fernia or even Khyber which for many purposes is its own plane.
