Weretouched Master's Alternate Form [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-30-07, 12:43 PM I was looking into possibly making a Were-touched Master (from Eberron Campaign Setting) and I had a question regarding its lv 5 ability (Alternate Form). It states that instead of shifting into what you would normally shift into (one of the ten variants), you instead shift to a an animal form (chosen from level 1). He adds the stats bonus (listed in the class) instead of the animal's actual stats. He can also assume a bipedal or hybrid form of the animal that allows him to use weapons and armor.

I need clarifying in this since the stats increases from chaing into hybrid form is rather high. I was choosing tiger (for the Puonce ability) and shifting to a hybrid form would give me the following - Str +12, Dex +2, Con +6. And would last the duration of the shift. Is how i'm reading this correct?

The ability says "Instead of using his normal shifting ability..." Does this mean that I am limited to how many times I use alternate form to the amount I can shift. Also, while in hybrid form, do I gain the benefits as though I am shifted (like the +2 Nat AC from Beasthide, fast healing and damage reduction from feats, or use of the Pounce ability by choose Tiger from Were-touched Master)?

09-30-07, 03:34 PM The way I have interpreted the rules is that the shifter traits are replaced by the "Alternate Form". However, shifter feats would still take effect, except for the "Extra Shifter Trait" feat.

In essence, they now turn into a standard version of the animal They do not gain any of the normal benefits from shifting whilst using this ability.

They also get further boosts to their abilities whilst shifting normally, dependent upon their heritage.
