| Caul03-15-07, 03:17 PM | Ah...good to be back... Anyway, love the Alchemy Blade in MoE, and I was thinking, has anyone made any other alchemy weapons, like alchemy bolts or the like? |
| FrostWolf03-15-07, 11:11 PM | Alchemy arrows are in the Arms and equipment guide I think. Don't see why you can't call em' Alchemists' bolts. As far as Alchemy weapons, I don't see why you can't make any piercing/slashing weapon into one. |
| Caul03-16-07, 10:45 AM | Ah...don't have Arms and Equipment guide. What I was thinking was a thick hollow bolt made of material that would shatter on impact (fragile glass/crystal maybe?), spraying the target with shards and the alchemic payload. I would have it do one die less damage than the standard bolt of the crossbow type, and have 10' less range. Thoughts? |

OR: Alchemis's Arrow: 75gp, critx2. 1/5 of a pound. carries a payload of alchemist's fire in its shaft that deals 1d4 damage (on top of the bow/crossbows damage)one round after hitting the target starting a fire. Again, I don't see why you can't make bolts also, or Make ones that do the same damage as a normal alchemists fire, or make them with acid, Alchemists frost, or anything else. Heck, a smoke arrow or a tanglefoot arrow(But that one I'd make have a much smaller range and be hard to aim) |
| Phantomcrossing03-16-07, 11:03 PM | And for the glass thing, I'd suggest checking out the glass bolts in the Dragon Compendium from Piazo. |
| Artector03-16-07, 11:07 PM | Oooh, how about Alchemic Caltrops? Buy a set of glass/ceramic/whatever-fragile-material caltrops pre-filled with Alchemist's Fire. |
| FrostWolf03-16-07, 11:59 PM | Oooh, how about Alchemic Caltrops? Buy a set of glass/ceramic/whatever-fragile-material caltrops pre-filled with Alchemist's Fire. umm.. I'd say no to alchemical caltrops, But a big YES to poison filled caltrops. |
| Subtle Knife03-17-07, 10:06 AM | Personally, I like the idea of alchemical caltrops; you pressurize the contents (Acid, Alchemists fire/frost) so that when they are crushed underfoot, they spray outwards, all over what is in that 5' square. SK |
| UnderworldLord03-17-07, 11:31 AM | So its like a little alchemical mine that you can throw down eh? |
| Lancer201003-26-07, 03:33 PM | Crud... I thought I was being all original and awesome when I pitched the idea of alchemically loaded arrow heads to my DM. I honestly didn't know that these things existed. I had even come up with plans for a tanglefoot arrow. |
| dormcook03-26-07, 04:17 PM | Complete Arcane has tiles that replace potions. We have taken that idea in my game and created clay arrow heads or small clay rods that fit just behind the head of a missle. When the item is shot and strikes its target, the tile breaks and releases the spell. With the artificer being able to make a third level fireball at third level, they are expensive but not impossible. We keep the restrictions potions have of 3rd level spells or less, no arrows of disintegration. |
