I'm currently running a campaign in Ebberon, and I need some helping coming up with a weapon, I'm having a little trouble. The group just fought and defeated the Lord of Blades because one of the characters was a general int he Cryeian (I guess) army, they/he found out that the Lord of Blades had the sword, a very old and important weapon to the royality and people of Crye.

I guess I should tell everyone what I'm looking for:

-The sword is a great sword
-I'm looking for an artifact rather then a Legacy weapon
-I want it to be representive of Crye and its noble history
-The party is mostly level 14, but I'd like this weapon to be usful into the epic levels
- I (and the player) perfer that magic melee weapons are melee weapons - no fireballs or lighning bolts etc...

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Well...Cyre used to be called Metrol before Galifar. Perhaps th Grand Flamberge of Metrol? Give the bearer a bonus to all checks based on Intelligence and Charisma, reflecting the brilliant and creative spirit of the Cyran nation?

Bonus to attack/damage vs. creatures unique to the Mournland, as well as anything the current ruler of Cyre deems an enemy?

If it is an artifact it will not be above a level 14 wealth item. I think an intelligent sword that allows them to use more of its powers as if levels up, but without penalties gets rid of the Weapon of Legacy idea, but stops them from having something to powerful.
I might have the sword ready tomorrow if nobody beats me to it

That Sword may be an ancient artifact with tremendous power of the last Goblin Civilization involved in the fall of their empire.

Canith House (whom country was Cyre) discovered and experimented with it to use it in the Last War, but they couldnīt handle it and it destroyed all the country in the Mourn Day.

Lord of Blades found it and could have understood its power. The objetive of the Lord was to destroy Khorvaire making another and more devastating Mourn Day to make the continent a new home to warforged.

The problem is that sword needs to be re-energized to get back all its ancient power in a misterious and dangerous way that may be useful to an adventure.

The sword can be used in mid levels becose it hasnīt all its power yet. In a future adventure they can search the way to reload it and release all the power so it will be useful in an epic campaing.

Hope this idea is useful to you. Luck with the campaign.

Well, according to Five Nations, nothing more Cyran than a Cyran Avenger... what about a Cyran Avenger made sword... like a Holy Avenger, but Cyran, get it?

I mean it could be a mere +2 longsword to any wielder, but when held by a born-in-Cyre character, it could become a +4 (something) bane, with some Mourning related ability. I donīt know if you donīt want the fireball or lightning bolt effect just because theyīre ranged attacks or not at all... If itīs the first case, try to make it a explosion based on contact. Wielder can use a standard action to charge the sword, and if he hits in the next round (with a charge, skirmish or dervish, to say a few), the effect would detonate in a fiery flash of light with some dice of damage. Better yet... this amount of damage could be related somehow to the rounds the wielder channels the powers into the sword: 2d6 with a standard action, 4d6 with a full-round, 6d6 with 2 rounds, and beyond...

These are just ideas, anyway ;)

I liek what the previous poster said, but feel that to make it more "melee" oriented, perhaps the special power is the Mourning mists? Deflects ranged attacks, or prevents flanking, grants concealment. All ideas. It could become know as "The Mistblade". I'll churn out some more ideas later.
