| Zodiacphoenix05-09-07, 02:04 PM | Hello, all... I want to play as a artificier (just a cool ***** concept I feel), but I need help with equipping my charecter. What sort of armor and weapons should he carry? I want to play the a young human dragonmarked heir named Alexander Cannith. He has a warforged bodyguard named Bolt. I was thinking of playing an artificer that supports Bolt through his infusions, but I need a way to defend the charecter too. I was thinking maybe a club, spear, dagger, and crossbow. But I'd like to have one or two weapons made of exotic wood (ironwood, bronzewood, densewood?) and maybe something along the lines of scale armor or chainshirt. Need your help. Thanks. |

My advice to you is to equip your artificer with a long spear, spiked gauntlet, and a chain shirt. Maintaining your mobility can be a major asset. I'd also suggest a light crossbow. The strategy is pretty simple. With the long spear you can spend your time not directly engaged. This might give your artificer time to use "aid other" to assist Bolt. The additional range might also provide a great "bubble" for attacks of opportunity. When you do get engaged you can drop the spear and switch to the gauntlet. The other more defensive route would be to load up with a breast plate and a large shield. I tend to dislike this strategy as it restricts mobility and puts your articifer who has d6 hit points in more danger. Especially because many artificers are played from behind using scrolls as support. |

| Zodiacphoenix05-10-07, 06:53 PM | Anyone know what Earthbound means? I know it has something to do with Eberron Campaign setting, but I can't figure out what it means. I have E-Tools, and I'm trying to make a totally kickass club for my artificer. I came across the term, but can't find it in the glossary on the website or the tool. |

The morning star provides you with bludgeoning and piercing damage and the shield is a source for AC which can be enchanted. For ranged combat (which I prefer) I'm using a light crossbow with the good old [whatever I'm fighting against]Bane personal weapon augmentation. |

I prefer a mithril chain shirt and masterwork buckler (maximizes A/C while also maximizing mobility and minimizing weight and armor check penalties). For weapons: light crossbow (prefer ranged combat) and morning star. For infusions, Weapon Augmentation Personal - Bane, Weapon Augmentation Lesser - Bane (for the party) and Spell Storage Item (for all those miscellaneous spells you just have to have). |
