Dragonshard Pommel Stone vs Weapon Augment Crystals [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-16-07, 11:15 PM In the Forge of War (page 121) there is a description of Dragonshard Pommel Stones. The effects of the stone supersede that of the weapon it is placed upon if it is magical.
In the Magic Item Compendium (page 64) there is a description of Weapon Augment Crystals. The effects of the crystal add to the effects of the weapon it is placed upon if it is magical.

In the Eberron setting are we supposed to use both sets of items or are we to ignore the more powerful Weapon Augment Crystals since they are similar in design but technically 'out of realm'? Should I allow the use of one, the other, or both?

08-17-07, 07:07 AM I would use the crystals, they are likely made from dragonshards anyway.

08-18-07, 11:31 PM Dragonshard Pommel Stones were a great idea for a group that wants to share their magic enhancements, pooling money to get several different effects to pass around, but they really aren't a deal on cost.

Augment Crystals are a great lower priced addon to most weapons.

So it depends on what your group wants to do with it's cash.
