| AvonRekaes06-03-07, 12:47 AM | Alright, so my Sharn campaign is going into the Depths of Fallen to investigate some of the remains of the Crystal Tower. I've figured out a decent 2000 to 2500 gp reward for each of my 3rd level PCs, except for the bard/rogue (gestalt) changeling Sharn Inquisitive reporter. All the other rewards are found in the same scene, on the remains of 80-years-dead corpses of warriors who fought against each other inside the Crystal Tower's eldritch machine engine room (trying to save or destroy the Crystal Tower). Any suggestions for the party face? |
| tallric_kruush06-03-07, 01:19 AM | I'm getting a little drowsy, so my mind isn't working too quickly at this point. Do you have the Magic Item Compendium? If so, you might get him started on the "Regalia of the Hero" (p207-8). If, that is, the set would be something suitable to his character. I leave the fluff/backstory for the items up to you (since it's late), but the items are relatively inexpensive, and were written with Bards and Marshals in mind. The other nice thing about using the set is the potential to build the acquisition of the other pieces into your adventures. He can use Bardic Knowledge to see if he's familiar with tales of the set. He can dig into their history, etc... until he learns where the other pieces were last seen. What Bard wouldn't want to go globetrotting across Khorvaire in pursuit of a such an item(s)? He gets a great story, plus a tailor-made item to boot! Who knows...Maybe these items were once used by a great Dhakaani Dirgesinger in the Daelkyr War?? This post is starting to make me want to play a Bard//Rogue.... :) |

Pipes of Sounding makes any sound ghost sound could make. It costs 1,800 gp and is very useful to ingenious people. If your player plays something other than wind instruments, just make the instrument something he does play. If he sings, make it a collar with an Eberron shard in the middle. The boots or cloak of elvenkind work wonders for the roguish flavor. |
| tallric_kruush06-03-07, 06:27 PM | This is a little off-topic, but I thought it worth sharing. After offering a few suggestions here last night, I learned today that we might pick up a new player in current game. We had lost our rogue some time back, and it's been inconvenient for both players and DM as we try to compensate for our want. I recommended a Bard/Rogue combo (as our game is also gestalt), and the player seemed eager after hearing the potential PC's backstory I'd brainstormed. I wrote-up the character late this afternoon. He's a rare male Duur'kala (dirgesinger) of the Kech Volaar named Kharuuc Dhakaan. His level build ended up Bard 6//Rogue 4/Ftr 2. Inspired by this thread, he is the bearer of the Regalia of the Duur'kala (the RotHero from MIC with reworked Dhakaani fluff). He'll join the group next week, we hope. |
