Hi all... I'm a little toooooo wired on caffiene to think straight right now. So, I'd like a little reality check on something that occured to me.

A Totemist (from magic of incarnum) can shape a soulmeld that gives him the ability to effectively do a pounce. Shaping "Sphinx Claws" and binding them to your hands gives you the ability to charge and make a full attack with any natural attacks you have due to race or other soulmelds. A warforged starts with one natural attack (his slam) and can take feats to give himself more. Namely, "Second Slam" and "Jaws of Death".

Would this combo give a warforged totemist the ability make a charge and perform a full attack (slam, slam, bite)?

It sounds like it does. Just think if that warforged also had the tauric belt and the wing attachment. You'ld get two more claw attacks and two wing attacks too.

Thank you for being the ONE person in 62 viewers (as of this post) to respond. :D

Now... considering the fact that you can also take a feat to tack on electricity damage to a slam attack... as well as possibly using a feat to gain a soulmeld from the Soulborn list to get Sonic damage on a charge attack... this could turn out to be a useful tactic.

The Soulborn soulmeld is Thunderstep Boots. The feat that adds electricity damage is in the Players Guide to Eberron, its called Shocking Fist.

The second slam and bite attack are just icing on the cake as they would not gain any of the energies.

Hmmm....

I love the flavor of a warforged totemist, I may have to steal it :P

Nasty combo too

Use Girallion Arms, the 4 claw attacks (+ bite from Jaws of Death) are nasty in the extreme.

Actually natural attacks always stack as far as I’m aware, so with second slam, bite and Girallon arms bound you get 2 slams, 4 claws and a bite.

Hopefully all those would hit... as the penalties would be horrific.

actually if you wanted to you could lesson the penalties a lot. Just take multi attack since you will have 3 natural atacks (2 slams and 1 bite) This would give you 1 attack with full str and a bunch of other attacks at a -2 with half str. That is nasty. Just to be horrible you could totally add a battlefist and maby imp unarmed srtike and just annoy your entire table by having to roll so many times!

Oh, even without multiattack, all the claw attacks are considered the primary natural weapon. Only the bite (and the slams if you allow them) would get the secondary natural weapon penalty. ;)

Be mean: Take double Totem chackra at 9th level and Bind Heart of fire. Add multi attack wich you alraedy qualify for.
7 attacks at -0 or -2, all doing [Esentia] d4 in fire. Gotta love it.

Or if you want to be even meaner Play a skarn, take shape Soul meld to get Astral Vambraces from the Psionics of incarnum minds eye article, shale Girallion arms and Heart of Fire as above, for a whoping 8 attacks, then dip monk to get iteratave attacks via unarmed strikes.

Let's not forget that we've got a warforged totemist here too. The tracery feats are a great way to add special materials to all of your natural weapon attacks.

Keep in mind that a "slam" is considered to take an "arm". This isn't spelled out specifically in its own rules but the Vampire creature gives pretty clear examples.

Second slam, however, could use the original limb (like a progression)

My point is that if you add on natural attacks like claws you won't get four claws AND a slam.

Not always, it just says a 'limb' so technically a hefty kick can also be a slam.

Can we not have that arguement again here?

The rules aren't clear on the point, it is up to the DM, and there are several long threads about it up in the races section.

Agreed...

One more neat idea that I've been considering. This actually works with any totemist, however, it'd be fun to do with a warforged anyway. The trick is to focus as much essentia into Bloodtalons as possible and Bind the Bloodtalons to your totem chakra. This gives you a pair of claw attacks that deal bleeding damage. You can use these claw attacks when you chakra bind Sphinx Claws for your pounce. So... you end up with a claw, claw, bite routine if you picked up the bite attack warforged feat. Plus... the enemy is bleeding from both claw attacks on the next round equal to the amount of essentia you put into the meld.

You get your full STR mod on the claw attacks... so why not maximise that. Take levels of Barbarian... and head into the Totem Rager PrC. The damage you do begins to pile up. You got a STR mod to damage, as well as a mod from the Cobold Rage feat that is required by Totem Rager. Given enough levels you could even take this build into Frenzied Berserker for an additional boost to STR.

The attacks made with the Bloodtalons are sure to hit thanks to the enhancement bonus on attack rolls you gain from how much essentia you put into the meld. Given a 6th level character, and the expanded capacity feat, your totemist should be able to pump 4 points of essentia into the meld for a +4 to hit on both your claw attacks.
