How I see this is at first level a Warforged can get one of two feats Adamantine body and mithral body now i'm thinking what happens if i say am a first level fighter and take both feats what then.

thoughts welcome.

Oooh ooh, I know this one! Neither are designated as Fighter Bonus feats, so you can't.

Now, if you were to use Flaws (from Unearthed Arcana) to get around this, well...I think any sane DM would say that you still can't. :P

I've got a question: Why would you take both feats when it makes more sense to take the best one of the two?
This makes about as much sense as stacking a full suit of plate mail over a full suit of chain mail.

It'd be like saying to your DM: "I want to wear this mithril breastplate and this adamantine fullplate at the same time." Which if I were the DM, I'd say "Okay, but you're going to take the worse of the two dex bonuses (too encumbering), the worse of the two armor bonuses (too awkward to use right), and the sepll failure and armor check penalties will stack. Oh, and a nonproficiency penalty on all attack roles due to the awkward nature of it all."
It just doesn't make sense, and you'd be better off spending your feats elsewhere even if they did stack somehow.

Actually to answer the question asked at the beginning of this thread is to say at best the GM would look at you like you're crazy (not too far off), worst case you get something thrown at you.

You're taking both of the armor feats you have to take at first level or lose the ability to take period and trying to use them both which you can't do. It's one or the other you get, not both.

Or if the GM is feeling particularly vicious that day he can let you take both, think you're getting all these bonuses while he notes down you having unarmored body.

It isn't even a matter of that. Read the feats.
Like for Adamantine Body, it says (and I quote):Your armor bonus is increased to +8...

<snip>

You have a +1 maximum Dexterity bonus to AC, a -5 penalty on all skill checks that armor applies to...

<snip>

...and an arcane spell failure of 35%.Notice, at no point does it give an additive bonus. It *SETS* your AC at +8. It SETS your maximum dexterity bonus. The only cumulative thing it gives is the penalty to skill checks.

So if you took both feats, the AC of the higher would overwrite the lower, you would get the lower of the two max dex bonuses, the arcane spell failure of the worst of the two, the only thing that would stack is the skill check penalties.

So, sure, go right ahead and take both body feats with your flaws.
You're going to basically have Adamantine Body with worse skill checks, and be a feat down. If you wanna gimp yourself by trying to get around the rules, go right ahead. :)

Well, as stated earlier, he can't take both, anyways. Both are 1st level feats, and neither are fighter bonus feats.

Right. Missed that. Either way, it's still such a ridiculously retarded idea.

I had a player try this so he could use mithril fluidity with adamantine body. It didn't fly and he quit because he said I was unfair. I think the campaign was better off with out him.

The only useful application of this, IMHO, would be attempting to stack Psiforged Body with another body feat. Other than that, yes, it's a silly idea.

Sounds like a good thing that guy quit the game, you really are better off.

Maybe I'm evil, but that doesn't sound nearly as farfetched. Assuming of course that I'm remembering correctly in that Psiforged Body doesn't modify any of the "armor" aspects of a warforged? If that's the case, why couldn't you have psioncally-attuned crystals mounted in an adamantine or mithral body? *ducks*

That's correct. Mithral and Adamantine combined would be stupid because the armor bonuses wouldn't stack, but all the penalties would.

Psiforged, however, just gives you the 'I am my own cognizance crystal' feature.

And a bonus power point at first level, thus making you a Psionic character and able to take psionic feats. I re-read it this morning. :)

That, too.

I've taken to calling the Adamantine Body/Psiforged tandem the 'Think Tank'. :)

Meh. I've still got the problem that the combination of two different rules (body feats first level only & flaw granting a second first level feat) that were most likely not seen together by the designers is questionable at best.

Still, the idea of an adamantine psion has something...

I like when people use house rules (and flaws really are house rules, just ones suggested by WotC) and then argue that they can do some exploitive and nonsensical thing because "that's RAW."

If I allowed flaws (which I, at the moment, don't, but might in the future), I'd let a player take both Adamantine Body and Mithral Body, and use them as written. No special restrictions or anything like that.

As written. The armor bonuses wouldn't stack, but the skill penalties and spell failure chance would. Simple and by-the-book.
