I'm playing a 9th level Artificer in a non-eberron game, and as such, I have no action points. I'm wondering if there are any magic items or feats or anything that will let me decrease the casting time my infusions maybe a few times per day or something.

Ask your dm if you can take the heroic spirit feat.

He can't take Heroic Spirit. The OP said it's a non-Eberron campaign that doesn't appear to use Action Points.

Take the Rapid Infusion feat, or see if the DM will houserule that metamagic feats apply to your infusions.

You could craft some items that somehow ease your channeling of magic, enabling you to cast infusion on it as a standard action. Exemples could be Armor, Weapon, Staff/Wand. Since only certain infusions are usable with those, this would give you the ability to "quicken" some infusions (i.e. Weapon Augmentation on a weapon, or Magic Vestment on an armor) but not all and again, only on those items you crafted that way, keeping game balance.

Rapid Infusion feat from Magic of Eberron lets you cast one infusion per day as a standard action IRC.

Yup. And in a setting without Action Points, Artificers get hosed, so he might allow you to utilize it say three times or a number equal to your Charisma or Intelligence mods + 1; something like that. I'd definitely ask for it though. Did you start at 9th level?

Different interpretations then. I understood that there were no action points being used at all, since the OP said the game was non-Eberron.

There was no logic for me to suggest feats that affect AP if AP weren't be used.

That sounds like a nice house rule to consider.

Thanks guys

We've just started the game at level 10 (I'm level 9 because I went overboard on crafting magic items and started eating my own XP)

I didn't think about taking the Heroic Spirit Feat - we don't have any action points as standard, but the DM might be receptive to the feat giving me them, assuming I only use them for infusions (and not doing other extreme things with them like in Eberron). Still... 3 AP per level isn't a whole lot for me right now (considering I'd have a fair bit more if action points were standard). So, a good idea, but I'd sort of like to stay away from actually having action points unless its the only option

This Rapid Infusion feat sounds kinda good. I shall check into that

jpwyrm - could you elaborate on your idea of the magic items to let me cast infusions easier. Are you suggesting something like a magic property that, when applied to a weapon, would allow infusions cast on it to be cast in a shorter time.. because if so, that is something I'd like to think about (I remember reading the City of Towers novels, and the artificer girl did have some armor that was particularly receptive to infusions...)

another related question - can I actually make wands and scrolls of my infusions? That way I'd at least be able to mitigate the long casting time by having 50 charges of the thing stored up.

From what I understand, only minor schemas (Magic of Eberron) have the ability to utilize infusions, so unfortunately, no.

True.

Other than that, you could create potions of Repair Damage but those would be put to use solely on constructs, so they wouldn't be all that useful if there are no golem or warforged in the campaign.

That was my inspiration as well ;)

Well, in my campaing, I'd probably let an artificer craft, say an armor, with the property of speeding up Infusions targeted on it with either:
1- A limit on those Infusions that affects AC, dmg reduction and protection overall
2- A limit of 1 Infusion for small objects (wand, boots, gloves, amulet, small weapons, etc.), 2 infusions for medium (cloak, robe, one-handed and two-handed weapons, etc.) and 3 for armor and shields.

Price might range between +1 increment to +3 or maybe +4 (should playtest it before saying...)

That's not a houserule, that is the RAW ... the problem is that the casting time of an infusion is 1 minute, as such the Rapid Spell metamagic feat doesn't do anything for it (1 minute isn't measured in rounds).

One useful tip is to hold the charge on an infusion, you won't be casting it any faster ... but you can hold the charge indefinitely and once in combat simply touching something will set it off.
