They are also a clever people, and even the average Zil gnome is capable of performing minor arcane tricks. Zilweave combines these two ideals. Zilweave is a medium weight fabric usually dyed in brilliant colors. Any creature capable of casting prestidigitation can use the spell to permanently alter the color scheme of the fabric. Any color (or combination of colors) can be used, but complex patterns (words, prints, logos, etc.) cannot (tie-dye is OK, "Down with the Trust" or "My other elemental ride is your mom" are not). Small ornamentations (braids, frill, decorative buttons, epaulets, etc.) can be added but only remain in place for one hour, then fade away. Zilweave outfits cost 100gp more than a normal outfit, but weigh the same. Zil merchants realize that other races do not share their arcane talents, so they have created brooches that allow their customers to alter the color of their Zilweave fashions. Zilweave Brooch This small ebon brooch is filligreed with a silver "Z". While wearing a Zilweave Brooch the wearer can speak a command word, allowing them to cast the cantrip prestidigitation. This ability can only be used once per day. These brooches may only be used once, are less expensive to create, and are indistiguishable from the authentic brooches. Counterfeit Zilweave Brooch This small ebon brooch is filligreed with a silver "Z". While wearing a Zilweave Brooch the wearer can speak a command word, allowing them to cast the cantrip prestidigitation. After a single use the brooch becomes mundane and inert, good only for decoration. When attached to a suit of Zilweave, the Brooch causes the fabric to gently and continuously shift color and pattern. The wearer of the brooch can stop the shifting colors by concentrating on a desired pattern and then removing the brooch. The shifting colors and patterns created by this brooch cannot be used in a mind altering fashion.
