Well, the Sharn book does give us thirteen corpses to inflict on our groups...but we all know that's nowhere near enough. So what are your PC's going to trip over in the dark?

00: A male human, middle-aged, very well dressed, and clearly dragonmarked, is found dead in an alleyway in one of the red-light districts. Upon insection, it turns out that his lungs are full of water, and he died by drowning.

01: A body is found pinned to a wall about ten feet off the ground. The body is held in place by a longsword, thrust through the mouth, up to the hilt, and into the brick wall behind him.

02: The metalic shell of a warforged is laying in the street, still in a humanoid shape. All the wooden components of it's body are gone, and there is no evidence of magic.

04: A dead gnome is found, the lines on her neck indicate death by garrote. Scrawled across her outstretched hand is the word "Traitor."

05: The party smells this one before they find it: A shifter, his arm sticking out of a pile of refuse. He appears to have died of starvation, and has been dead for several days. On his neck is a makeshift rope collar.

06: A Lhazaar representative hangs dead, trussed up by his toes on a line between towers. The party is alerted to his presence by the blood pooling beneath him. (or dripping down on them)

07 you find the dead body of a kobold in a dumpster. I wears a leather collar with a tag on it that reads "Kringles - Please return to Maria ir'Tain, Tain Manor, Skyway." On closer examination, you realize that its tongue has been removed.

08 The party finds a gnome bard apparently ripped to shreds just off a trade road. He has a House Sivis ring, blank parchments, and an ink bottle with something clear in it.

09 After a good night at the inn, the party retires to their room to find the body of the bartender, hours dead. They had just seen him handing out ale to all the regulars a few seconds before.

10. the party finds the body of an overweight male human dressed in amazingly fine clothes. Strangely, they are completely mundane and their simple cut belies the obvious cost of the fabric and dyes. His eyes are open and an expression of terror is locked on his face. A small leather case before him is filled with several small paper miniatures of some unfamiliar nobles and a canvas backpack filled with undecipherable books lays open a slight distance away.

11. A male and female body are found in a lavish apartment. There's obviously been a struggle. A friend who lives nearby can only shake his blonde hair and say he doesn't know what happened, only that someone left on a white bronco earlier. And that he doesn't know who's glove that is.

12. A changeling in leather armor is face down in the desert. His only notable jewelry is a ring that is made to look like intertwining feathers.

13. The upper half of a gnome in green robes, still clinging to a pipe on the side of a lightning rail car as it slides into the station.
Sucros

11-30-04, 04:05 PM
14. A wolf whines next to a limp body. Upon approaching the body, you see the prone body of a half-orc. The wolf growls at you and won't let you get any closer, but you can see a horrible gash on the half-orc's back.

15. You see a man, frozen midstride in the middle of the street. He looks to be a labourer of some sort, and bears the look of man lost in thought. Were his body not attracting flies and beginning to smell, you'd think him the subject of hold person

16. You enter the hospital room of the Silver Flame cleric that is your good friend. Beside his bed is a table with several vials of a red fluid. His body appears to be drained of all of its blood. The only blood not found in the vials spells out the words, "It's a wonderfull life!" on the wall above him.

Does anyone know where I got this one? ;)

17. The party finds a body wrapped up in a worn cloak in an alley outside their house. The hood is pulled up, shielding the face of the victim.

When the hood is pulled back, it reveals the face of one of the party members (not the one who pulled the hood back). A closer look makes it obvious that someone magically or surgically altered an innocent to look like the party member. Clutched in one stiff hand is a piece of parchment that says, "This one is for practice."

18. The body of a half-elf is found in the desert, miles from any civilization. There are no clothes or other posessions on the body. Upon closer inspection, there is a slight impact crater around the body and the lungs are filled with ice.

19. The skeleton of a halfling stands underwater, it's outstretched bony fingers centimeters below the surface. Wearing the decrepit remains of leather armor, it's boot is wedged between two large rocks, holding it below the waves.

20. A merchant is arrested upon attempted entrace to the city. Her wagon carries the stinking corpses of a goblin and a human. The bodies have somehow been magically melded together and have extensive arcane symbols etched into their skin. The merchant has no memory before being arrested by the city guard.

21. A half-orc body turns up in an allyway. It's throat has been slit. The skin on it's chest has been scraped and gauged in the rough outline of a Mark of Finding, leaving only faint reminants of a dragonmark. The chest wound appears to be self-inflicted. The corpse is labeled "I was lost but now am found."

22. A group of gnomes lay in a group, their faces apparently melted. They are gathered around a large and beautiful chest in an outdoor chapel of sorts. (can anyone place this one? ;) )

23) You find a skinned corpse lying flat on its back on a bridge about halfway down a tower, the top is some 500 feet above. The body is horribly mangle by the fall. It doesn't appear to be a humanoid. (place that one, I dare you!)

Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark ;)

24. Upon returning to room in their inn, they find that the strongbox at the end of the bed has been opened. Open inspection a corpse of a gnome is found inside, holding a bloody knife with multiple stab wounds. Closer inspection seems to suggest the stab wounds to be self-inflicted...

25. Though this dead body is bloated and corpulent from the poison in it, the PCs won't see it even if they trip over it, though they will be able to smell it. One one hand can be found a ring of improved invisibility.

26. This dwarf's eyes are open in seeming shock, though he is quite dead. Close inspection reveals that there are various rocks filling every orifice on his body, and in fact all through his insides.

27. Someone falls past the party as they walk across one of the lower bridges. A rope hangs around his neck, tied to the bridge above, and he is on fire. However, he is still alive as he falls, and indeed seems to be drinking from some vial. When the rope finally reaches the end of itself, it immediately snaps, and the strange sight plummets to the bottom of Sharn.

29. A body is found. it's from a necromancer. The only odd thing to the attire that the body is wearing is a crown of sorts. A witness reports someone with a similar looking crown leaving the premises where the corpse has been found.

30. While the funeral party is on the way to the graveyard the appearantly dead person starts making noise. When all the hubhub has passed the last thing the person knows is drinking a glass of wine with person Y. When Y is finally found he's been dead for a month with a really really wicked grin still visible.

31. a dead body if found on a not to frequently travelled path near a cliff. The cause of dead is being run over by a cart. Part of his(/her) clothing is missing and has a whip in the left hand.
When looking at the base of the cliff a wrecked cart is found with the missing pieces of clothing attached to the drivers seat (not under the wheels or around the axle).

added following
32. a 350+ lbs corpse is found face down in a bowl of beans, next to the corpse are found bags and bags of beans and some empty bean bags. The first persons to enter faint at the smell of farts.

33. Another body is found tied to a bed with the Breland Chronicle of a year ago next to the body. The person dies when the first investigators enter.
In the Chronicle a silver plate is found on it is imprinted (by magic) the scene in the room but with a hand holding the newspaper up next to the bed.

34. A third body is found with exactly one pound of skin missing.

35. A fourth body is found, the person was once incredibly beautiful, until the killed decided to try to be a cosmetic surgeon and sort of failed (abysmally).

36. The party wakes in the early dawn (within their room at inn/home/temple, etc.) to find a young human woman sitting silently in a chair at the foot of the attractive male character's bed. Upon disturbing the body, it falls into 5 separate portions- horizontal segments. Upon the character's chest sits a note, "Thought you might be getting lonely". The door to their room was locked and remains so.

37. Same state of the body, but it is now an entire dinner party, dressed opulently. The macabre scene is placed in the main room of the tavern, and the victims were seen, alive, 6 hrs earlier in another ward of Sharn.

38. A corpulent kalashtar is found dead in the alley by the Forgeside Bistro in Sharn's Cogs- he appears to have suffered massive internal hemorrhaging and bears a 1/2' thick hole in his stomach. He was eating at said restaraunt over 30 minutes earlier... he had everything on the menu.

39. A Gnome and halfling, both male, are found in the charred ruins of a Central Plateau home- the chamber struck by lightning the night before. Only thing, is that only half of each victim can be found- the halfling's upper torso connected to the gnome's legs.. and supple metal wires have been attached to each limb, the bodies sewn tightly together with coarse twine.

40. An ogre's corpse is found just off the path between Breland and Zilargo... she lies slumped against a nearby pine, and appears drained of vital fluids. Two holes rest in the back of her neck, but each is the size of a man's fist!

41. A precocious student at Morgrave University is found floating in the school's fountain- he is stripped to the waist, wearing only a grey loincloth, and his left eye and right hand have both disappeared- Each are later found preserved in the research chambers of one of the University's eldest scholars- a 300 yr. dwarf confined to a wheelchair, and utterly senile by means of a mysterious curse

42. A block of mortar is found near a dock, out of it stick a pair of shoes and the beginning of some form of leg wear.

43. In sharn, someone claims to have tripped over something that he can't see. When this something is examined from toe to head it is determined to be a gnome, recently dead, cause unknown since it's a tad hard to do an autopsy on an invisible corpse.

44. Someone finds the flayed and preserved skin of someone they talked to only hours ago. Someone else remembers bumping into the same person and meeting curiously little resistance.

46) You find a corpse of an attractive young woman buried to her neck in sand. There are no wounds on the body and the burying seems to be an attempt to hind the body rather than kill the woman. Small flecks of a silver substance cover each of her wrists.
Teron Gorefiend

12-04-04, 11:24 AM
47. The corpse of a climbing shifter still clings halfway up a Sharn tower, claws wedged in cracks. Once it's pried off the wall, an instantly fatal wound on its chest is revealed.

48. Someone realizes that a member of Fort Zombie's undead garrison looks an awful lot like the fort's former captain, who disappeared some months ago.

49. No one would know that the ashes and powdered silver were humanoid remains if the Kundarak bank's guards hadn't seen the thief spontaneously combust.

51) For the last 3 years a lifelike statue of a warforged has decorated the marketplace, until the local inquistive figured out it was a warforged.

52) One day somewhere in the night an empty house in the neighboorhood is crushed under the weight of a dead whale crashin down upon it (depending on the mood of the gm someone might crawl out of the critter).

53) A mage specializing in identifying items is found dead with large bite marks as the cause, next to the mage is a scroll of dispel magic, one empty scrol and a bad representation of a claw dino in some sort of fabric (the last radiating a strong magical aura).

54) A local seamstress has dissapeared, the only thing out of place in her workshop is a new mannequin doll that has a face vagely resembling hers.

55) A statue is commissioned to remember a hero. At the revealing of the statue someone notices that there is something sticking out of the statue. upon closer inspection it's a leg bone.

Besides the two shifters and a halfling who were killed from gruesome wounds that appear to have been inflicted by claws, there is a corpse that appears to be human. What makes it hard to identify is that while the skin is intact except for a huge tear in the upper torso, there are few bones and no internal organs.

61- The artificer of the party is asked to see this one: A wizard lies sitting in a chair with an open and empty skull. Behind him, a machine lies motionless. 67. The body of a well known seer is found dead sitting in a chair in their opulent office. A look of horror is frozen on the corpses face and it seems to be staring fixedly into the empty corner of the room. The room is warded against extra-planar movement and the door is secured from within by both lock and bar.

68) You find the corpse of a goblin in the Cogs. By the looks of him, it looks like suicide, as you see a dagger in his hand and a pool of blood underneath him. As the party turns him over, they find that he weighs FAR more than a goblin of his size should. You can see that the goblin cut an "L" shaped flap of skin from his appendix up to his left pectoral muscle. Revealing the flap shows that all of his internal organs have been replaced with replicas in brass.

70) A man is found dead lying face up on a balcony. There are no wounds on the body, only a small gold bar embedded in the back og his neck. The bar measures 1" long by 1/4" wide and doesn't go deep enough in to do any damage. Within hours five more bodies with the same object on them turn up all over the city.

72: A halfling in leather armor is found inside one of the party's extradimensional storage items. He seems to have died of suffocation.

73: A completely skinned corpse is hidden in some out-of-the way place. The eyes are still gazing outward, indicating that the person was somehow incapacitated and then skinned alive. If the party manages to determine the identity, they realize that it is an acquaintance of theirs that they briefly spoke to only a day ago. Just one problem: The corpse is older than that.

74: The party comes across a spiked pit trap with the corpses of a group of Silver Flame priests at the bottom. The only problem? It's in the middle of an alleyway.

75: The party begins to systemmatically encounter body parts. An arm in the middle of a street, a leg in their tavern seat. . . They may also realize that the parts are all from one body.

78) One of the PCs sees a corpse in a location that the whole party is in (somewhere public). However, the PC is the only one that can see this corpse. All others in the room see nothing, and unconsciously avoid the area of the corpse (i.e.-if it is on the floor, they will walk around it/avoid it without knowing why). When the PC tries to get others to notice they don't.

That is until ANOTHER PC sees a corpse that only they can see...
